With Jimmy in the bin at start of the second half, Flanno starts with interchange forwards. I felt it was vital we didnt concede a man down. Refs fault. :grinning:

The one that annoyed me was the Brailey 270 degree spin offload to Gallen at the line.

The Corey Hughes / John Morris pet play.

Had the backline nice and deep ready to go - and we run that play.

I thought we had moved on from that rubbish.

But... if the ball is passed properly to him Gal goes over.

Not much stopping him there.

that one sticks in the beer memory, thought he was just trying to hard, overcomplicating it, when a simpler and crisper pass may have done the trick. Coach needs to remind these guys about the pros of simplicity.

Me too - that supposed trick shot almost never works for us - and it was a great opportunity to play out to the edges. But Gal calls it - so bit hard for Brailey to overrule his most senior player - probably why he changed his mind & delivered a poor pass.

But really the one that irks me the most is Gal's run in the 80th minute.
15m out, right under the posts - Cowboys backpedalling.
I was screaming field goal at the ground - and watching the replay later, even the Ch9 scumbags were calling it. It was that obvious. Everyone could see it.

But Gal takes the selfish option & the moment passes.
Doesn't matter that Gal tried to milk it (he did), or that it should've been a penalty with hands on the call anyway (it should have).
If we kick the field goal, despite all the howlers over 80m, we still would have won.

Gal took the wrong option - and it cost us the game.
Sure his effort was enormous once again - but in the end, he took the wrong option.

You know what the kicker for me is Hawko? Don't tell anyone but it just might have been the Raiders time last year and you feggin blew it but we took it.

Stupid penalties.conceded 11 - 5 . Even if 3 of them were dodgy that is still 8 - 5.
2 of the penalties resulted in Cowpoints. 4 of em.

That's the negatives I seen. All stats a finals team should not have.

I am quite surprised our missed tackle rate is so high.

I though we defended stoutly a few times, particularly on our line.

missed tackles mean nothing with us. its all about contact & shifting the play towards the edge to use the sideline as a defender.
it works well.
Have a look at how many tries for teh amount of missed tackles. The numbers dont stack up.
Make contact & scramble. it works.

Anyone know how many missed tackles when Jimmy was in the Bin?
Is it normal that missed tackles would increase when that happens?
We did play 90 minutes too.
