Apparently the grandfinal of the JB Cup is going to be shown on TV as the first game on grandfinal day.
The captian of The Entrance Tigers is Jamie Forbes. Jamie was the last guy to take my Junior club, Macquarie United, to a grandfinal victory in the Newcastle comp. That was about 12 years ago I'd say and 'young' Jamie (as he was then) was the best player on the field by a huge amount. For his efforts in that game he got a contract to play for Balmain and had two or three years in their lower grades before moving to the Central Coast.
Jamie is a small hooker who was considered too small to play firstgrade in Sydney, which seems odd now that small hookers are all the fashion. He is great out of dummy half and is a really good playmaker, which would make him just the ticket these days, but in the time Jamie played for Balmian they wanted a big tackling machine (not that Jamie didn't tackle like a mad man).
Anyway, this could be Jamie's last game, and it is worth keeping an eye on him if you watch the game. He should have been a much more 'decorated' player than he has been over his career.
