The Lurker - Brett Morris

There is a dude called the Lurker who thinks he knows his stuff around player movements and stuff and he said that Saints are interested in Brett Morris if the Dogs pay a fair chunk of his salary.

Bulldogs and Saints may be interested but is he after kissing the scums badge and slamming the Saints when he left?

Would be interesting if he does come back but you would highly doubt it. Plus if he did, would you swap him with McDonald? Nighty cause Nighty ain't going nowhere.

Some strange tweets coming from Brett lately, a few weeks ago posted a tweet saying how much he enjoyed playing with Josh this year but he made it sound like it was his last year. If you look at the replies plenty of Dogs fans felt the same and asked where is he going. No response back from him. I haven't checked lately but no reply when I last checked.

Then previous to that a few months ago hinted he wanted to play in the ESL before he retires. More like a come and get me plea.

I know he is is getting tapped on the shoulder but it sounds like he is wanting to go as quick as possible.

If the objective is to improve the backline then Brett Morris would be a great acquisition at our stage of development.
Straight swap for McDonald (6 tries 2017)
All the business about his unsuccessful stint at Dogs will be soon forgotten once starts scoring tries again in the big Red V.
Nighty is a specialist right winger playing out of position.
With Morris back the team will actually be more balanced.
Add a quality centre and the backline will start to look the goods.

Yes, if the deal is in the Dragons favour and yes, he can still do what Nene can do. Nene's still young though.

I think McDonald has a lot of upside but he just isn't scoring any tries.
Maybe it`s the coach`s game plan his main involvement seems to be as a battering ram coming out of our defensive zone.
Morris, for a year or two, is a ready made solution.

Mcdonald needs a bon fire lit under his backside.Big dude with obvious speed but we just havent seen it. YET
.Nighty is a club favourite and much loved.Just fear he maybe playing one too long.
Brett would bring back many plusses
Still has the speed and experience
knows his way to the try line and outstanding finisher
Wont be playing Reps
Can fill at Full back when needed
Great tutor for our younger backs coming through
Has the possibility to play with his brother as DYLAN is progressing nicely through our ranks
At the right price he would represent great value as well as a fan favourite..

Brett has a bit of the biscuits about him, so I wouldn't want him for more than twelve months.

If Brett was coming back, why would he replace Nene instead of Nighty?

Nene has his issues but is younger, faster and has more upside. I could handle Nene and Bmoz as our wingers for 12-24 months till Lomax/Marsters/Garrick are ready.
OK Let's dump Nightingale and use McDonald.
Are your sure that he will score as many tries and be as reliable as Nightingale.
I'm not

We know that Nightingale will only be around for one more year.
It's not like he is not performing - still scored 16 tries vs 6 for McDonald in 2017.
Then introduce the youngsters if there are injuries and permanently in 2019.

So obviously for many in this place there is no way we will or should ever have a Cottric, Mitchell, Auva'a, Vinavalu, Gela Mosby, Ponga, Edwards, Cleary, Hess, Crichton, or the likes in our 1st grade side unless we by them from another club when they are 23 or older.
The shameful insistence that everything outside the club including has beens, never was's, code deserters, is better just mortifies me.
With all the names being bandied around that we should get we are like drug attics looking for a quick fix.
No doubt Mc Fookknuckle probably subscribes to the chaotic nature of recruitment that people allude to in the various threads as he cannot see that building strong foundations within our ranks has any merit either.
Honestly how can our future be in buying 30+ or even 32 year olds on contracts of up to 3 years?
Buy B Moz insanity at its best.

So you would agree that Graham falls in that category as well?
Everyone is touting him as a messiah number 2.
All I see is a prop at the end of his career that doesn't bend the line any more.
Philosophically I agree with preferring our young future champions but to be successful at introducing them into first grade you need a coach who has the nous and aptitude to achieve that.
McGregor has wasted a number of opportunities to blood young stars and given recruitments like Graham, it seems that "experience" is the main criteria in terms of selection and recruitment.
I would have no problem dumping Nightingale if we had a coach that was capable of providing an alternative from within our own ranks.
In the same breath, I would prefer to promote Hind, Kerr, Lawrie into that vacant prop rotation.

As others have pointed out, it has been Josh (not Brett) who has kissed the Bulldogs' emblem provocatively numerous times, especially in games against SGI.

Brett, on one leg, is still far superior to MacDonald. Anyone who thinks otherwise is completely deluded; some of his tries this year were to "die for".

My only reticence regarding Brett returning us his over exuberance after scoring a decisive try in the semi final in 2015. He looked mightily pleased, and it pissed me off.

FMD Nighty is going to be even slower next year. Catch, run 10m and fall over the line tries anyone can score. He's too f**king slow.

If you properly evaluate Nightingale's tries in 2017, very few, if any, featured him running a mere 10 metres, and "falling over" the line.

Most involved a fair amount of skill that not too many wingers possess.
