The real top twenty players in the NRL: the stars people pay to see

Latrell Mitchell schooled James Roberts in the art of the fend last time they met. Latrell put Jimmy flat on his back. That tells me all I need to know about Latrell's x factor, and why people are starting to travel great distances just to see him.

same as your other thread

No it isn't . The top 20 stars that people pay to see is disproportionately backs, esp wingers and halves.

The Dream Team, by contrast, has to fill 17 positions on the field, so doesn't include only players who bring people through the turnstiles.

Latrell is shit.
Keary is shit.
Cordner is shit.

Our team sucks.

Give the Eels or Cowboys the bye to the GF.

We've got no hope.

Cam Smith isn't number 1, he's well known but he isn't who people go to the game to watch.
Billy Slater should be number 1 and by a fair margin.
Luke Keary, Addo-Carr and Cordner shouldn't be there.

The OP states that these players are dazzlers.

Number 1 is about as dazzling as genital warts.
A dazzling player is someone who pulls something incredible out of their arse which raises comments like "you just can't do that!"

Phil Blake when playing for Manly is a perfect example. Today's guys like Tedesco and Radradra are dazzlers.

The failed accountant always looks like he is playing to a Bellamy script, like most of the Storm players.

Successful yes - brilliant and dazzling - no.

My comments on Alby's list.

20 Luke Keary - does some good stuff but hardly a world beater.
19. Nathan Cleary - same as above.
18. Michael Morgan - just a plodder with little spark.
17. Greg Inglis.- how many people paid money to watch the Mayor of Bowraville play this year?
16. Boyd Cordner.- a workhorse, nothing more.
15. Jordan Rapana - a worthy inclusion, one of the best wingers around.
14. Sam Burgess - you had to include at least one Burgii Alby.
13. Josh Addo-Carr - nah, a show pony.
12. Suilasi Vunivalu - probably placed a bit high but yes.
11. Semi Radradra - should be in the top three.
10. Shaun Johnson - when on song could be in the top three but....
9. Darius Boyd - oh so dazzling that he can't be seen in a blackout. Bottom half of the top 200.
8. Daly Cherry-Evans - has his moments but way too high.
7. James Tedesco - potential top three material.
6. Latrell Mitchell - hot and cold but the rating is spot on.
5. Billy Slater - five or more years ago - yes. Today - no way.
4. Jason Taumalolo - a beast deserving of the placing but where is Fifita?
3. Cooper Cronk - his position on this list should have a zero behind it.
2. Johnathan Thurston - JT should pay me to listen to his clown laughter.
1. Cameron Smith - from the ABS- "between 2002 and 2016, three people paid money solely to see Smith play for the Storm".
