The reason players are being selected out of position.

As we've all seen we have Cartwright at 6, Moylan at 1 and Big Dill Edwards in reserves. With how stubborn the club is being about it, it begs the question of whether it's a salary cap issue. For example: next year it becomes a top 30 instead of 25. Perhaps this will allow room for better team selection and we have to just wait for the inevitable? Just a thought.

Dylan Edwards would be part of our top 25.

Our coach decided long ago Moylan isnt a 6 and there's nothing that will change his mind.

Not sure why he believes Cartwright is a 6... but he wont ever admit to being wrong. Cartwright is throwing an intercept or two every week and his bad passes outweigh the good by a considerable amount. Playing 6 makes Cartwright think he needs to create something every play. Some will work. Most wont.

Very true. I've heard some interesting things from Broncs fans about Griffin which seem to be repeating.

We did have Martin until whatever this is that's happening now which means we essentially have 24. Throw in injuries etc. Before you know it we get done for 2nd tier cap violations like the Raiders.

I'm happy for Carty to stay at 6 if he plays like he did in the second half against the warriors.
Eg : stay the f**k out and don't overplay your hand. He had a nice ball or two, good chip to DWZ and that's about it but it was enough.
When he does this desperate passing, intercept rubbish, crabbing sideways and running about as slow as a one legged dog I get pissed off.
As others state, he attempts to make a big play every time he gets the ball.

The less play making Bryce does the better, gives moylan time and space to do his thing.

For the life of me I cannot understand why we are still doing the Bryce/Moylan thing. We are just making both of their roles more complicated.

To be fair they can both do that while we have a good running fullback like DWZ or Edwards to run off them.

Moylan is doing 2 jobs and not allowed to shine in either... but Griffin does that because everyone thinks Moylan is a half and he decided long ago he isnt.

Its just ridiculois that we pick players who NEED others to pick up the slack.

Moylan at fullback needs his wingers doing kick returns as often as possible.
Cartwright at 6 needs Moylan doing all the playmaking.

It makes no sense to select flawed players in positions with the expectation another position will pick up tge slack. Not when we have options where that isn't necessary.

That's pretty much perfectly said. The best teams have specialists in key positions.

From the replies that have been posted on here, the club's position (which would be the coach's position presumably) is that Moylan is the best fullback in the club. I think this was true last year, not so sure now, although he didn't put a foot wrong in the last game. If that's the coach's position, not much we can do about it (except whinge on here). But it does mean we need a five-eighth, if TMM is on the way out, or at least a fullback who meets Hook's standards, and we seem to be close to overspent as it is.

If Moylan is to remain fullback, could they at least send him somewhere for some sprint training. I remember Darius Boyd when he returned to the Broncos saying he went to some place in Las Vegas and it improved his speed (sounds like there's a joke in there somewhere). Funny place to have such a facility and it couldn't possibly be cheap but this might benefit Moylan. There is no reason whatsoever he can't be some yards faster.

Moylan at fullback needs his wingers doing kick returns as often as possible.
Cartwright at 6 needs Moylan doing all the playmaking.

This is known as multitasking. Especially in the area of wingers doing kick returns and hitups it has become common practice in the game. The arrangement worked pretty well for us last year but hasn't really this year, except for the second half last game. But clearly our esteemed coach is not ready to give up on it just yet, and we are only fans. If the strategy fails to a sufficient degree, all of us here will still have our livelihoods, but Griffin won't be a highly paid NRL coach any more.

Heres hoping Moylan and Edwards fire quickly and this is the spine we can build around. This has longterm potential.

Rein isnt the answer at 9. But hopefully he's a good short term one

I'm pretty comfortable with Rein. He's playing for his career so we should see some decent enthusiasm.

Even if it turned out keeping him in 2018 until Wade Egan is ready.

Yeah we shouldn't get too ahead of ourselves though, seen plenty of stars in u20's not make it.
Masada Iosefa looked like he could be a Cam Smith quality player in lower grades. He was terrible in first grade though. Several clubs and coaches couldnt turn him into an NRL player.

Hooker seems to be our worst position for developing into first graders. Had a lot of great players in the lower grades. Very few were good in NRL.

Everyone seems to rate this Egan.

Egan seems a good prospect. Now that Soni Luke is back from wherever he has been I am very keen to see how he goes. He was our best player in the 2015 Nyc team that won the comp, I watched that team a lot and Luke was carving teams up every week, he has a great running game and can more than enough skill to play in the halves, picked up a serious injury in the 2016 preseason and then came back from it this year but couldn't get a run with the reserve grade side until now. Hopefully he actually starts at hooker and can get back into form because he looked like something special in a team that had Cleary, Luai, May, CLark, Leota, CHN, JFH Edwards....

Interesting. I'll keep an eye out.

Joel Romelo was another future superstar hooker that never kicked on. Last I heard he was caught up in some drug bust.

He was a Cronulla junior.... it adds up. Lol.

Pretty sure we traded a gun hooker for him. Neither kicked on though.
