NRL has issued Tim Simona a notice of intention to cancel his registration for allegedly breaching rules relating to gambling.

In a statement, the governing body said: “ The notice relates to alleged breaches of the rules relating to gambling on NRL matches.

“Simona will now be prohibited from training or playing with the club until the matter is finalised.

“He will be given a chance to respond to the allegations before a final determination is made.”

The Tigers also released a statement on Friday saying they were aware their star player is currently under investigation for allegedly breaching the rules relating to gambling on NRL matches.

It’s believed the centre was on the outer at Concord after specualtion he was shopped around to rival clubs.

Seems like some salary cap space about to open up...

Maybe they will take on Steve Matai's contract off the Eagles...

They did them a favour with Ballin so possible...

There were whispers about off field stuff with simona but didn't realise it was this serious. Would want to know exactly what he did before throwing him under the bus. It could be something as simple as betting on another game, whilst players aren't allowed to do that it's not exactly the crime of the century.

Not the crime of the century, but a hard and fast rule.
Who knows what he may or may not know about players involved in the game that can influence a bet.

Kind of like insider trading.

The stupidity of this is that Simona will be de-registered by the NRL for this, a hard and fast rulel that DEFINITLEY SHOULD apply but it is likely/possible that he simply bet on another game or even bet on the TIgers. Lovett gets caught with cocaine and will play this year.

Both should be rubbed out for mine (although I really want Simona at left centre).
