United vs. Liverpool - Sun March 21st 2010

I just thought that we should have a dedicated thread to the
phenomenon that is the North West derby and everything that surrounds it.

Looking at both teams we can see a clear favorite. But saying that
there nothing Liverpool like more than heading to Old Trafford as under dogs.

I'm sure United are keen put the sword to a desperate Liverpool who they haven't beaten in the league since March 2008.

With an eye on the 1-4 pumping they received at Old Trafford last year, all signs point to a United win.

A strong showing in this game will once again signal the all to familiar sound of the Manchester United title march.

over the years, it's probably been more important to Man U than the match against City.

Torres opens the scoring with a beautiful goal before a massive blunder from the referee, who awards a penalty because Antonio Valencia tripped over his own feet outside the box.

The penalty is saved but Reina can't gather and Rooney puts away the rebound.

Disgraceful stuff from the referee to hand United an equaliser they didn't deserve.

f**k off skeepe - was a clear penalty, and should have been a red. Not to mention Torres should have been booked for dissent, and thus should be off with his later yellow.

United win 2-1

Poor second half from Liverpool. Too conservative. Even when United went up Rafa didn't really look to chase the game.

Clear penalty? You're having a laugh.

The Guardian summed it up best for me:

"Mascherano might have made the slightest tug on Valencia's arm but he was well outside the area, and the United midfielder just staggered on a few yards before collapsing in a heap"

It was a great dive by Valencia, one that would have made Ronaldo proud. Congrats on the undeserved win.

f**k off you ungracious scum supporting twat. Your team was sh*thouse and deserved to lose. Gerrard in particular was MIA. Very amusing to see Torres trip in the divot he dug on the penalty spot and muff what should have been a sitter and an equaliser.

f**k off you whiny bitch!! every time one of your teams lose its never anything to do with your actual players... its all the ref's fault.

from this past friday...

Congratulations Blues, just far too good at influencing the referee to make absolutely horrendous decisions in your favour. At least one try from a pass that went 10 metres forward, a ridiculous knock on call that stopped any chance of a Brumbies comeback, you name it, it went in their favour.

Looks like you need the referee in your pocket to win in NZ these days. Disgraceful.

i see a pattern here... heaven forbid the Raiders get pumped tonight...
