Probably just “letting off some steam”

    Shit happens” I guess?

Damn ABC for reporting facts and not being on team Straya!

f**k you are a little grub.

Easy having a go at our defence service personnel in shithole war zones. I would love to see your reaction if your were there - probably, hiding somewhere facing court marital for being shit scared & refusing duty.

    Lol!

Would I also be a “grub” if I highlighted war crimes committed by Australian troops?

Good to see surely liking a complete cretins post.

How’s it go again? “Birds of a feather...”

    True enough.

I wonder what our veterans who served in North Africa against the German Afrika Korps during the last war would think of this?

The ones who didn’t come back would be spinning in their graves me thinks.

Looks like piss poor leadership at SNCO and officer level for letting it happen. To be fair any JNCO worth his salt would have put an end to it in seconds.

Whilst it’s totally wrong the person who has leaked the photos seems like a total toilet of a human being.
Failure to have someone remove a flag isn’t in my opinion grounds to ruin someone elses careers unless it was a mark of deeper issues.

Is it any sicker than having a flag representing people responsible for the murder of civilians as an avatar though?

I wonder what the reaction to this post would be if it were a Muslim commenting on a recent terrorist attack on innocent civilians.....

No, I don't think so. In fact I'm certain that would not be the reaction.

of course nobody has any idea of the context, but best to be outraged over our troops actions.

What would be an acceptable context for such a thing?

Let’s see... they’re in Afghanistan fighting against the Taliban and they somehow had time to procure a Nazi Swastika and tie it to the uhf mast. That’s a pretty accurate context I’d say.

Here’s another context: Veterans of the Australian 7th division who fought against German troops who sported that flag at Tobruk and El Alamein in the last war would be wanting these guys drummed out of the Australian Army, and I couldn’t blame them either.

On a side note, it’s also a tactically stupid decision as the red in the flag makes them sitting ducks for Taliban snipers and RPG teams.
