Who needs a winger?

Dugan, Moylan, and Holmes. All successful and established fullbacks on the field playing at the same time. A lot of salary cap there! How can Cronulla have this lot in their cap?

And here lies the problem with managing the cap.

You have too many players who think they should be the superstars of their team playing in key spine positions and command all the $$, yet none of them have proven they can lead their team to a comp.

Yet, they let go of Maloney and Barba who were the 2 proven winners of their side.

With regards Holmes, he’s the same scenario as Brett Morris, the worlds best winger that wanted fullback cash. Now the Sharks are going to feel the Dogs pain as they are essentially paying almost a million a year to a winger, yet they are stuck with Townsend and Hodkinson as their halves.

And another 700K for a centre. Inglis and Bird are probably the only centres on more cash than Dugan.

Absolutely.

You need to very selective who you pay your big $$ in the age of a limited salary cap. You spend too much on players who don’t deserve it, you have no money left for the rest of your squad. It’s a 17 man game after all.

In our case we chose to spend big on Widdop and Hunt and to a lesser extent Vaughan. These 3 have delivered in spades for us which is what you want from your big money signings.

Compared to other high profile signings from other clubs like Tedesco, Bird and even Cronk, Millward has done an excellent job with our roster.

Yep .. Nighty's inability to score that try is my agenda ...
Anyone that actually thinks Nighty deserves to be in the side now has an agenda too you know.

Ben Hunt is the big difference on the right not Nighty. You can see him talking to Aitken big time .. One try they scored Hunt was having a breather on the wing and the defence in side crumbled ...

Yeah Ben Hunt has helped Aitken's game
Lomax's defence & speed is needed in the centres or wing for a more complete team, replacing Lafai or Mann on the bench. His chance is coming, along with Jai's - then we'll see more Dufty-like tries across the park. Can't wait for the coming era of speed and the 'WTF just happened' moments the Sharks suffered!
Bring it on - the shackles are coming off at last.

Well some teams have to be selective.
Other teams can have two new players on $1 million a year, a State of Origin captain, a State of Origin winger, two international front rowers, another ex State of Origin winger and centre all while paying half the contract money for a State of Origin half who's now playing for another club.
