For 2017 it should be Mann and Widdop in the halves.
For 2018 it will be Hunt and Widdop in the halves.
Mann should be retained because his is so versatile but where he plays long term will be determined by who we CAN retain out of our current squad for 2018.
I might be wrong but I think the only new player we have signed for 2018 is Hunt. So the question is how do we pay for Hunt and keep the players we have? Well the answer would have been, the cap is going up more than Hunt's salary.
However, we have upgraded contracts, signed juniors and some fringe first graders and now come to the point where there may not be enough cap to retain some of our quality players. Dugan, Packer, Lafai, Mann, Milne are quality players who should be retained. Unfortunately for some reason - even though we did not make the 8 last season, we now are faced with letting some of these players go. Teams that make the GF or maybe the top 4 are the ones that usually face such a situation, no a team that has not made even the semi finals since 2011.
The question is, was is purposeful decision making that brought us to this point or was it incompetence?
