LOVECHILD alone cost us top 4 IMO. He did such a good self-promoting con job on Mary in the preseason FMD
If only Hutch hadn't been injured - he was so good at putting players into space.
With luck, Hunt will do the organising & kicking Widdop was unable to do consistently - and X-factors Field and Dufty will love running off him.
Graham's mental and physical toughness might counteract the club's debilitating and hugely embarrassing choker syndrome - and he might teach Mary a thing or two about man management and game plans?
Hunt & Graham would have great game smarts after having been coached by Bennett & Hasler you would think
If Thompson's going then that brings Host & Leilua into play, which means more creative offloads to complement JDB's.
Replace dud Nene with BMoz - and if only we'd snared Roberts our outside back speed issue would've been addressed. We have great juniors though.
And yeah, relieve Widdop of the captaincy, as it's a burden and he looks like he just doesn't want to be there at the PC
2018 should be a better year

I wasn't talking about you True-Believer when I said "Holier than thou" and I do appreciate a discussion where there are differing opinions. But when a poster says they are not interested in what you have to say and don't bother responding that is trying to shut down the discussion.

I have never told another poster I thought their argument was worthless or said anything derogatory about another poster. All I have ever done is put forward my perspective and in this case my opinion is different to yours and a number of other posters. On the flip side there are a number of posters who share my concerns regarding Widdops game management ability.

Fair enough mate - I thought you were referring to anybody who didn't agree. There are arguments on both sides and not everyone will agree. The world would be a boring place if they did!!

All's good and you're spot on, there are differing opinions and that's what the forums about. I just get fed up with some posters who try to shut down the discussions they don't agree with and throw around personal insults.

I think you're very unlucky to have our worst troll support your point of view.

It means that the good points that you raise get lost in his bullshit.

St George Illawarra skipper Gareth Widdop took home the 2017 Dally M Five-eighth of the Year for the first time on Wednesday night.

Widdop – who beat out the likes of Rooster Luke Keary and Eel Corey Norman – was on hand at the Star Casino in Pyrmont to receive his award alongside the other positional award winners.

The English international also managed to finish third overall (24 points) on the Dally M Leaderboard – which was eventually won by Storm skipper Cameron Smith.

Widdop was the only player to pose a real threat to Smith's eventually second Dally M Medal win after he jumped to the lead after 20 rounds.

Though in the end Widdop's knee injury suffered against the Roosters on Anzac Day came back to haunt him – after the 28-year-old was forced to miss three games and England's Test against Samoa earlier in 2017.

Dragons forwards Paul Vaughan, Tyson Frizell and Tariq Sims were nominated and unfortunate not to win Dally M Prop, Second-rower and Try of the Year respectively.

Young Dragons star Tristan Sailor was also beaten out for Holden Cup Player of the Year.

The full list of winners was as followed:
