Apparently quite tasty, my mum has spent a bit of time in Peru and it's widely eaten there.

Yeah I saw a travel doco about Peru, they live in a little hutch in the kitchen and when they get hungry they kill one:

I've always wondered why people don't eat Panda being that they are so slow and dopey I'd imagine they'd be tender and plump. But they apparently taste terrible otherwise they'd surely be extinct.
