Will Channel 9 in Melbourne show Storm semi live?

Here's the perfect chance for Channel Nein in Melbourne to show a bit of support for rugby league and the Storm.

Wouldn't it be great for 9 to give the Storm v Broncos game Swans' like promotion in the week leading up, ultimately showing the game live.

9 doesn't show the AFL for the rest of the year and I don't thing there's an AFL game to compete with that night.

Let's help rugby league in Melbourne and bombard 9 with requests to show the game live into Melbourne if they are planning not to.

Should be a 40,000+ crowd at a state of the art stadium. The perfect game to showcase league into Melbourne.

Go the Storm!

I think 9 and 10 have some kind of agreement where they won't run finals up against each other in Sydney, Brisbane and maybe some other areas.

You won't see the AFL final live in Sydney or Brisbane.

The starts at 6.30pm and the AFL starts at 7.30pm next saturday night so it shouldn't matter.

Surely the AFL people down there aren't worried about the rugby league.

Most games are on close to midnight or well after.

Tragic.

Give the games to Fox if 9 in Melbourne don't want them. Pack of bastards.

Fox isn't regionalized like FoxSportsNet in the US. if they show it in Melbourne they show it nationally. Fox footy is the only one that's regionalized.

Think you will find this Friday you will see the AFL against the League, as the Channel 10(Sydney) Contract, requires them to show Swans games live into Sydney (for interstate games) and on a 30min delay for games in Sydney

i completely agree. channel 9 is a disgrace. They dont show any games live here appart from the finals. They show the sunday and friday game delaied 1 hour simply so they can put more adds in.

If they arnt going to play it live for the melbornians then they should give it to someone else.

Correct. This week the AFL will be live into Sydney, telecast begins at 7pm for a 7:30 start.

As with Melbourne can you tell me it would rate considering that the AFL final will be on at the same time! Come on think in Channel 9's shoes for 1 minute. They are a business and as much as you hate it, the match will not be live unless there are no AFL games on. By the way I think you will find it delayed on Fox anyway!

Channel 9 Melbourne program guide for the finals:

Friday, September 10:
7.30 Burke's Backyard
8.30 Forrest Gump
11.55 NRL - Penrith vs Dragons (Sydney 7:30)

Saturday, September 11 (two finals):
6.30 Australia's Funniest Home Video Show
7.30 The Wedding Singer (again! It was on only 2 months ago!)
9.30 Muriel's Wedding
11:40 NRL (a two-hour show, presumably only one match)

In comparison, in Sydney:
6.30 NRL - Brisbane vs Melbourne
8.30 NRL - Bulldogs vs Cowboys

Sunday, September 12
2.00 - 5.00 The Green Berets
12.40am NRL
2.30am NRL

That is absolutely pathetic. Forrest Gump, The Wedding Singer, Muriel's Wedding and the Green Berets on instead of the rugby league, the Melbourne Storm game on at a terrible hour. What the hell are they playing at down there?

It's sad but a fact of life until the NRL does something about it when the current contract expires. And they had better do something about it.

But on the plus side, the NRL game that is up against the AFL game will slaughter it in the TV ratings nation-wide.

Channel 9 should be shot.

The games in New Zealand are at

-10pm Friday (live)
-8.30/10.30 Saturday (live)
-6.30 Sunday (i think - either way, its live).

If only they kept the kickoff times to the normal times.
