For Widnes

Widnes have signed ex-Wigan scrum-half Willie Peters, who had been released by South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Peters will take the overseas quota place of prop Robert Relf, who has retired due to injury.

"We have been after a scrum-half and he is one of the names we have been looking at," said coach Neil Kelly.

"We have got a quota spot available and now Willie is available it is falling into place. We hope he will be here by Sunday but he won't be playing."

Peters has been lined up to make his debut against his old club Wigan in the Tetley's Super League next week.

By becoming available, Peters has brought forward the decision of prop Relf to quit the game.

The veteran, who joined the club from North Queensland in 2002, has been told he needs surgery on both ankles.

If you ever wondered why ESL is years behind NRL, now you know a large part of it. Another crock topping up his pension.
