what about NZ guy from about 4 years ago, his surname was Davis I think. He had a big ego and said he would be pushing for a NRL start in his first seaosn, he played wing/centre. Broke his leg I think then went to the tigers

The fluffy kitten, what a hack.

Justin Tsoulos was never that great, but he's another player who was forced to retire way too early because of injuries. If he didn't get injured so often he could have been a very good first grader.

Here are some articles I've written about some players whose careers ended too early

Ray Morris - http://andrewrlp.blogspot.com/2011/08/sam-haron-2011.html

Charles Savory (died at Gallipoli) - http://andrewrlp.blogspot.com/2011/08/charlies-last-test-2011.html

John Farragher - http://andrewrlp.blogspot.com/2011/08/tragedy-at-321pm-2010.html

A number of players who died at war - http://andrewrlp.blogspot.com/2011/08/unknown-heroes-2010.html

Paul Hayward and his switch to crime - http://andrewrlp.blogspot.com/2011/08/underbelly-tale-of-two-league.html

Bobby Lulham - http://andrewrlp.blogspot.com/2011/08/days-of-our-lives-2007.html

Dan Davies (whose career was ended by the NSWRL banning him for life for breaching the residential rule) - http://andrewrlp.blogspot.com/2011/08/one-little-lie-2007.html

Thanks for that Madunit.

Some great reading there.

Apisai Toga Saints 1973 collapsed during training and died of tetanus poisoning.

Charles Broonham aged 19 died 1941 after a knock caused internal bleeding whilst playing reserve grade for Norths v Souths.

Geoff Selby Saints d. 1989 car crash

Ambrose Morgan The King of Redfern Souths d.1975 gunshot wound to the chest. Was 6 and a half feet and weighed 16 stone! Ambrose had only played a few third and reserve grade games over the years, but he was called up against the mighty Eastern Suburbs in an Amco Cup semi-final at Tamworth. Morgan came on with Souths trailing 2-9, and although Souths eventually lost the match, Morgan cut up the opposition scoring a try and setting up another for his good mate Donnelly. Fast and big, with a step and uncanny ball skills, the afro-haired smiling giant Morgan suddenly stood astride the league world like a colossus. Morgan was trumpeted as the new Beetson, high praise indeed after the match against Artie Beetson himself. Big Artie was then at his peak with Easts (stunning grand final winners over Saint George 36-0) and to give the dynamic prop this tag was a big call. Ambrose had the world at his feet, a chance to both make it in the big time and help his people as well, but no-one could have guessed what was to happen next. He only played 18 games.

George Piper Panther - d. 1968 after a fight outside a nightclub

Dean Byrne - life threatening complications from surgery for a leg injury, then battled addiction to pain killing medication. Played for Saints, Souths and was to join West Tigers. Never played again.

Actually, has anyone mentioned Brett Firman? He was a player when he came through, had all the skills. Then he broke his leg a few times, got marrow in his blood stream which can kill you, and never played anything like his best again
