Could someone work with this beast??

And being another Konrad Hurrell is a bad thing how? The only thing holding Konrad back is his work ethic.

In answer to the OP, of course scouts will be climbing all over this guy and backing themselves to make a star of him. Looks like he plays a wider, looser style than is ideal for a rugby union prop so he may well suit league better.

Dave Taylor version 2!

I read the comments here before I watched the video and thought that it's more of just LU saying no to him because he plays Union.

But looking at that video, the comments seem justified. Sure, he has excellent mobility, but not the mobility of a back. He has great size, but he's not taking on boys in the middle.

In League, what is the point of having big backs who don't have speed? And what is the point of having huge forwards when they don't run at opposition players, rather around it?

He's young and it's easy for him to move in that body right now. Lets see what happens when he converts his fat to muscle. Lets see how agile he is then.

Dave Taylor mk II.

Nahhh... Who would want to work with a freakishly athletic footballer like Greg Inglis, SBW, Israel Folau etc...

What separates GI from Hurrel, SBW from Idris is that footballers IQ. They have the freak athletic talent but on top of that they have a natural instinct for the game that every other "simple" athlete does not.

Many have got to the top based purely on their athleticism and all a game of footy has been to them is "run hard. run fast. score try" because they were so far above kids their age. But that doesn't cut it at the top level.

I can tell this guy will simply burn out in NRL footy.

We sure do love the hype machine don't we - I've seen this guy all over my facebook feed, websites etc.

At the end of the day, he's a prospect. And I'd like to point out he's also a rugby UNION player, so comparing him to GI, SBW, DT or anyone else is irrelevant right now because he doesn't play the same sport.

So you can tell that this guy will burn out?? Based on his "Footballers IQ"...

If we follow your geniused logic for a second... What makes you think his "Footballers IQ" is low from that video??

I'm genuinely interested to know....

Because that video was really all about his physical abilities.

How did you make the judgement that he didn't have a high "footballers IQ"??

Was it the fact that he was a pacific island boy perhaps?? I wonder...

People are excited by the fact that he's 135Kgs and moves very well...

There's potential there... The question I asked in this thread is around whether a RL club consider taking him.

His success in RU will be based on how good he is in the set piece.. Ie scrummaging. If he doesn't have the technique to be an effective scrummager... His running game won't even be considered.

If that was the case I think he could be more suited to a sport like RL.

Definitely looks more naturally suited to RL than Union. He's obviously carrying 15-20kg of excess weight easily, but he still looks quick, well balanced and light on his feet, and looks like he's got great hands too. Would definitely be worth someone getting on a development programme and testing out his training ethic, if he responds and gets down to around 115-120 I reckon he'd have some serious potential.

Oh ffs don't turn this into a race thing when the two players I praised as having the elite football IQ are both nonwhite. And one of them is even a kiwi. And someone like Dave Taylor is a freak athlete but a dumb footballer, and he's white.

Race has nothing at all to do with what I was saying and you bringing race into it is just proof that you don't have a legitimate argument.

For the record I don't think Hurrell is a dumb footballer either- has his defensive problems but thats more to do with inexperience at League, being a late convert. He certainly isn't purely limited to running over the top of people, he can draw and pass and put his teammates away very effectively, and often does so.

Sigh. He'd be another Konrad Hurrell. We must get over this idea that being freakishly athletic is all you need to be a success.

I assume by your immense, delusional bitterness that the voices told you Hurrell aint heading to the heap of shit?

totally, sif there's a single club in the NRL that wouldn't sign Hurrell if they could

Manly maybe.... but Lyon and Matai are getting on so I'm pretty sure even they'd take him as a successor to one of them.

What I take away most is that he believes Souths is the golden club and players should be taking the opportunity to play for them. if not, they're disrespectful, they won't be as good as they could be at the club etc.

I'm just glad the Warriors didn't muck around and locked him up for a couple more years- he seems to be training well under McFadden and I'd be gutted to see him anywhere else.

Absolutely. He'll be the best centre in the game with a few more years experience on top of some changes in his attitude towards training.
