Would fall short of the top back lines, but it's still a massive upgrade on what they have and given enough opportunity they could score some big points.

Still, outside of Fensom and Papalli (a motivated Papalli) there's nobody in their halves or forwards I'd be interested in. Will take more than a winger/fullback to get them going.

Paul Vaughan is a special talent, he will be amazing.

The raiders have shown that having big name props is a waste of time. We have arguably a top 4 prop rotation if you go by names, reputation and representative honours, but it's got us nowhere.

Hooker and halfback make a team, the rest you can put any old first grade standard plodder in and they'll be good enough - as Bellamy has proven.

Im not worried about the halves, Mitch Cornish is a keeper.

Takes more than one decent halve though. A crap 6 who can't pass, is greedy ect can cost a team big time, as exhibit A I give you Josh Hoffman, and a halves player who is slow and not as good as he once was can do the same, exhibit B I give you Scott Prince and exhibit C you can have Terry Campese as an example.

If you go by names being the keywords there. Your props are overated and aren't anywhere the best in the comp. The dogs have shown what an ACTUAL good forward pack (props in particular) can bring you.

Sure. Problem is Smith is arguably the best hooker of all time so it's not really easy to replicate that. That plus halfbacks of Cronks quality aren't easy to get. In general even good halves are hard to find.

I don't think anyone would deny that the 1, 6, 7 and 9 are the most important positions but they're also the hardest to find (actually fullback nowadays that's not the case but whatever). Not everyone can build there team around star players in those positions because there just isn't enough.

Pretty sure that none of it comes together without the biggest ingredient, and your $1m a season coach could have the Australian team at his disposal and still fail...

Why does the amount canberra are paying Stuart matter. The raiders are a wealthy club it's not really a big deal what he's being paid. There is no coach salary cap.

This too. Rugby league is one sport where the coach is absolutely crucial for a successful team. Sure you can get away with a bad one (ricky has won a premiership after all) but in general the top teams have the top coaches.

Well that's the raiders for you a pack of jobs for the boys backslapping yokels but I doubt he's on too much more than furner. I'll say one thing for Stuart at least he's forcing the club to spend some f**king money on the facilities.

That 'coach committee' was an absolute joke and an illusion of a process that had dunnemen thinking he was actually being considered and then to top it off he finds out from the media that sticky was appointed after weeks of negotiations. It's no wonder the guy holds a grudge.
