Messi - 3 x MoMs, 4 goals
Ronaldo - 1 tap-in in 4.5 hours

Go home you pretender. And return your Ballon d'Or too.

Had some good chances against Ghana, his general play this tournament has been ok but his finishing has been ordinary this tournament

Yeah I thought Messi general play was average for a player of his standard, especailly the first 2 games. Ronaldo was probably better in that aspect in a team who dont control the game as much as Argentina and against better quality opposition.

Messi finishing was world class though.

He also covered nearly 7km more in total over the course of 3 games and nearly double the amount then Messi when not in posession, so he was working hard for his team despite perceptions.

Not as embarrassing as the "world's best player" going missing yet again on the big stage...

That's a result of the different positions they play, I expect Di Maria to have similar stats

That's more of a result of the teams they played against. Iran parked 4 buses so you're obviously going to cover a lot less ground when the game is played in one half and obviously you're going to cover less ground without the ball when the other team never actually has the ball

Not as embarrassing as Liverpool considering legal action to defend a racist soon to be barca player, or having a user name based on the future Bath RU inside centre.

But yeah, Ronaldo won the euro player of the year, euro champs league, scored in the world cup, but his team wasn't good enough to get out the group. I bet he wishes he was you right now. Good thread...

To balance that though Germany drove there bus down and parked it in front of Portugals goal, it wasnt an up & down the field game either

In a game like that the team without the ball is always working harder especially with 10 men. Messi was also subbed with about 30 mins to go in the last game

Messi has Aguero, Higuain, Mascherano, Di Maria, Lavezzi

Ronaldo has Nani, Meireles, Moutinho, Carvalho who are decent players but nowhere near the class of the Argentinian squad. Ronaldo has also been playing injured as well.

So i dont know how you can expect world class performances from him in the present time. I thought he already showed that in the Champion's League when he broke goal scoring records.

Firstly Carvalho no longer plays for Portugal, secondly having Aguero and Higuain means Messi can't play his normal role, he's forced to play a lot deeper due to there being a lack of quality central mids, a player like Joao Moutinho would be like gold dust to Argentina, I mean they're starting with Fernando Gago for goodness sakes. Thirdly, Aguero and Higuain haven't been worth feeding this tournament
