Sorry I don't find watching someone participate in ritualistic brain-washing interesting or inspiring.

As as agnostic I understand where you are coming from but there is a mile of difference between having faith, following customs and being brainwashed

People are entitled to peaceful beliefs without being denigrated

Whenever my all-age team used to have Sunday morning games scheduled for soccer we would quite often still be drunk from the night before. THAT was tough.

What dumb ass religion decides its a good idea not to eat and drink during the day? Was that bit of the scripture written by a bloke with an evening cafe by chance?

Who knew SBW did the same thing last year. Not many people but he did.

You'd think Sonny did a press conference announcing he was going to be fasting this month the way some people are carrying on. When the reality is he kept it secret all last year & hasn't spoken about it to the media once about it at all. So much so even our coach & players avoid questions about it in respect to Sonny's wishes that he doesn't want to talk about it.

I genuinely worry for some people on this forum...

Hazem El Masri did it his entire career without fanfare.

And was born and raised as a Muslim. SBW gets brainwashed into it by Mundine and all of a sudden we should laud him for making seven tackles and a few runs? I don't imagine he 'd usually play outside Guerra, so it's nice his lil fad is being catered by his coach - just like his boxing, his code switching and whatever else is next.

Yawn. So bored of this guy.

I thought sports people always had an exemption if they were participating in a game. I'm sure last time Pakistan were in Australia playing cricket this topic came up and their officials said so.

Rumour has it after the next rugby world cup, he has his sights set on becoming the world's premier transgender athlete.

It's an individual choice.

Also, playing during summer and being out in the sun for 6 hours a day is worse than being on the field for 80 minutes during winter.

It probably won't be as much of an issue for night games so yesterday was the toughest I think.

People saying it wasn't mentioned when Hazem did it have short memories, it was mentioned a couple of times.

Yeah I remember the dogs had a day semi final and it was mentioned.

Praise SBW sure, but El Masri was no plodder
He was a tremendous athlete and others opinions of SBW or his efforts should not diminish El Masri's achievements

Don't sink to the depths others sink to mate

After all, as you've pointed out SBW is no more singing his own praises as Hezem did

I have the upmost respect for them both as should every Rugby League fan
Well said.

Classy post. As usual mate.

Having a fair few Muslim friends, Ramadan seems to be tough enough in an office job. And for Williams, who didn't grow up as a teenager fasting, it would be even tougher. He hasn't been big noting himself, it has been his team mates singing his praises.
