Torres only scored 2 other goals. In 9 other games. That's the kind of return you expect from a 5-10 million player. You have a point about the assists, but seriously, you think that all adds up to a 50 million player? I say 50 million because I really doubt he's going to contribute much to Chelsea in the last years of his contract. Sorry Jimmy, but 50 million is a superstar price for players who play like superstars, which Torres has not.

Also, none of this argument has to do with Liverpool and Carroll. Don't pretend I've ever tried to justify why Carroll was worth what Liverpool paid.

The 32 million argument is geniused.

The club valued him at 50 mill and paid as such, he has failed to get anywhere near the expected levels of a 50 mill rated striker, as is the argument here.

Trying to break it down to a per year figure to limit the embarrassment is itself extremely embarrassing.

Well you were specifically referring to the UCL and how a 50 million pound purchase won you an >80 million competition. The guy is nearing 30, well past his peal, and nothing makes me believe he's suddenly going to turn it on after 4 years of mediocrity. So I highly doubt he will win you 3-4 more trophies.
That's Atletico's choice if it pans out; doesn't mean it's correct.

Anderson has won a few things too, doesn't mean he's a superstar and immune to criticism which he universally receives anyway...

No arguments from me. I would have taken 15-20. But my expectations disappeared after 2 seasons and he is not going to miraculously change now. Everything possible has been done at CFC for Fernando Torres to succeed and the result has been pitiful.

He's been a garbage player. Torres is more reactive than proactive and this allows savvy defenders to put him where they want him to be which is usually out wide and well out of position. Hopefully, either the Monaco or Atletico rumours have some substance.

Whatever happens, I will be grateful for that moment v Barca and the goal in Amsterdam. I will try to erase the rest from my memory. The Barcelona goal will only be topped by him holding up another team's shirt and the sooner the better!
