Why are so many leaving Gower out of the team? I agree that Tepai and Pauli have more potential but come rnd 1 Gower will be in the 17.The others two where forced there early.3-4 games in Wenty to east them in.They are still boys.

Also in regaurds to Depth Emyjaycee....

Start of 2014- Manu Mau-K.Edwards-Gower-Tepai-Pauli where not considered as deff first graders. There development will continue and all should be better next season.I even think Gower will improve due to the fact he hasn't really had that many first grade games.

Add to this Jnr Paulo and Terepo have just started there NRL careers they also are now first grade players even if just a fill in role. They should be better.

Than you add Mossop being out all year and Lussick having a disrupted season along with the new additions-Mainly Wicks-Watmough and Fa'aaso and all of a sudden its a different pack.Oh and Peats missed 2/5th of the season.....

Depending on the player but usually it takes 2 full seasons in first grade for a forward to find his feet. Some do it quicker but rare do you see a guy reach his full potential after his first season in first grade.

I also recall when we signed Peats people saying he is from souths reserves he aint that god, so even Peats wasn't considered a great first grade option prior too 2014.

I reckon we potentially will have the best pack in the competition that's how much faith I have in the guys there. I just know when Hindy-cayless-Ryan-Mannah all first started from the bench thinking there not bad players and 2 yrs later they where stars. I reckon same will happen here.

And when 2-3 guys get better than it makes it easier for Mannah and Lussick who will look better. Its a roll on effect. Just look at so many forwards who leave Melbourne and turn to mud.Or guys past it that have gone there and looked great.Do you really think bellamy transforms them with some secret training? Its more there just in a better team.

I'm not sure if we'll have the best pack next year I still think the Dog's pack edges out over ours but ours certainly has more potential imo. Also with our strong junior systems now in place when a fringe first grade player becomes too costly (Allgood, Terepo) we will be able to replace them with a cheaper option, and when our old players get too old we can promote a player from the bench to overtake them in the starting spot and promote a junior.

I think Penrith may next year? They signed that hooker form souths and also have Segyaroo....

Segeyaro proved he can cope with 80 minutes so why limit his field time? They have just signed Koroisau as a backup because he plays the same style. Smart move to have backups that don't change your gameplan too much.

I'd say more like Pritchard. De Gois was mainly brought in because we needed a hooker for this year and Pritchard was injured. The reason we signed him to such a long contract was because we desperately needed him and the only way he would sign was if he knew his future was tied up.

What odds would you like on Pritchard playing more than 50% of the season (across all grades)? I like him , but geez you wouldn't want to rely on him being available at a time of need.

De gois isn't a bad option to have in reserves.Espeically if peats get injured.Doubt he would of costed a whole lot and you need some sort of backup hooker. We had NONE!

Like De Gois?

Spot on. I think Pritchard fits the mould too - tough, aggressive, nothing flash or fancy, and 80 minutes' worth.

Agree with Barry that Pritchard seems horribly injury prone. I hope he grows out of it because I like him. Then again, I hope we keep Peats for the next eight or so years, so if Pritchard ends up a first grader he won't want to hang around.

So Peats is used better off the bench if that's the case. Peats is a hooker, he's the best hooker at the club. You don't play your best hooker in a different position just because he goes hard. It just means that he'll require more time in ice baths and recovery so he doesn't get any soft tissue injuries. Hard tissue injury can happen no matter your style of play.

Why would we need anyone to cover lock anyway? We have more than enough middle forwards for next year, so why waste an interchange taking him off to bring on a second hooker then wasting another one bringing him back on just so we can have him on the field? Watmough, Edwards, and Gower are all going to make much more of an impact than Peats in that middle forward position because they're used to doing it.

If it was me, Peats would get a spell.

Of course it f**king can. It's not like he's a Segeyaro/Luke type hooker making a dozen runs a game. Peats would be lucky to run the ball every ten minutes.

The fact Peats got injured in his first year as an 80 minute hooker is almost certainly just coincidence. It's as unfounded as saying Peats (or Hopoate or Norman or Gower) pushed Jarryd Hayne out of the club. Try not to jump to conclusions regarding cause and effect.

If Peats can't play 80 minutes at hooker every week then we're paying too much and need to replace him with a hooker who can. Because carrying another dummy half on the bench is a massive waste of a spot.

It's just my opinion based on observations and my experiences.

When I started playing, I was a Moimoi-style prop, and six games into the season, my coach moved me into the second row to cover for injuries.

Playing a different position that required more lateral movement and agility than I had contributed to my injury - but I still believe that the biggest contributing factor in my fractured neck was the fact I was thrust into a position of having to play big minutes with little prior experience, and the resulting fatigue helped a nasty accident occur.

There is no doubt that Peats will be better in 2015 for his 2014, but we have some quality back-up hookers, and given Peats' importance to the side, I personally feel we could employ a two-hooker rotation.

But that is my opinion.

Also, my coach had a face bigger than Jarryd Hayne's salary...

The whole point of the thread was to discuss potential line-ups, btw.

Just because my reasoning isn't popular, it doesn't make it wrong - it's my mere opinion.

De gois is a great defender. He also leads the line well. People would remember his game against Manly. As god as peats played I would give that the best hooker performance of the season.

Reason I leave de gois out is we have so many good forwards, if we didn't have such a long list he would be in my 17.He is a first grade player.
He may even start the year at 9 with Peats coming on after 25 mins. An de gois playing the last 10mins at lock to tighten up the defense.

People wanting Kaysa before De gois haven't watched enough footy. Let Kaysa prove he can play 12 games in wenty.Last thing you want is a guy who is in and out of first grade

Another thing-People may say why have an extra hooker if Peats can play 80 mins.

The same goes with second row thou.If a guy can play 80 mins why rest him and weaken the position.Mau-Watmough-Tepai-Edwards all can pump out big mins IMO

The difference is just about all edge forwards are just as effective at 'lock'. Peats and De Gois are both too small to offer anything outside of dummy half. Edwards, Ma'u, Moeroa and Pauli can all run the ball effectively in the middle too.
