10/8 for Segs, Temperament probably an 8. He does have the occasional brain fart.

Is Segeyaro really the best player in the NRL? When did that happen?

FWIW, he lags behind Smith did try assists (6 to 1) and I'd assume line break assists. Still, hard to argue against a 10 attack. I'd argue that 33 tackles a game is borderline for an 8 def. 20 errors last season is reflective of a low temp imo.

10/7 with a 6 temp seems fair. Could go an 8 for def, but I'd like a non Penrith fan's view of it :p

Not disagreeing with the comparison, just pointing out 10/8 would make him the best player in the NRL. I think we all know I won't be putting Smith up for a rerate anytime soon

It seems 8s are the going rate for a hookers defence. An 8 Srama is 30 av, and a 9 Ennis is 39 av, so it seems he fits right in the middle of the 8 slot for me.

Challenging Robbie Farah, looking for a 10 attack. He got 5 tries, right in the middle of Segs and Smith. 143 hitups, right in the middle of the two, half again as many run metres as Cam Smith, 7 try assists, which is 1 more than Smith and 6 more than Segeyaro, 5 more linebreaks than Smith, but only half as many offloads.

Keep in mind this is all from only 18 games, compared to Smith's 23 and Segeyaro's 24. If he played out the season he would have dwarfed both of them.

Smith isnt a good benchmark to use for rating a ten. In a fair dinkum rerate he is nowhere near a ten. Segeyaro is the best attacking hooker in the game by a mile. Farrah imo is nowhere near a ten either.

If I was wearing my Panthers hat I would give him 10's for everything & probably a snappy little bj just for good measure.

Tbh I wasn't necessarily pushing for a ten, just pointing out that Smith is. That said, if the best hooker in the game for the last two seasons isn't a ten, then why have a ten rating at all? 10/8 doesn't make him the best player, valuable kicking and temp stats are still well behind the likes of Thurston and rightly so.

Shouldn't a 10 just be the best stats in that position? As far as i can tell, Segeyaro has the best stats in his position. Followed by Farah. Smith trailing in third. Since third place Smith is a 10, the two better than him probably should be as well.

Though i'm happy with a 9 attack if i have to for Farah as Didgi reckons, but he is no 8 defence, he only get's 6 tackles a game less than McCullough, who is a ten defence.

Josh McGuire is currently an 8/7, seems way underrated for mine.

Attack
Josh McGuire - Attack 8 - 125m/game - 9.02m/run
Matt Scott - Attack 9 - 159m/game - 9.47m/run
Aiden Tolman - Attack 9 - 121m/game - 7.15m/run
James Graham - Attack 9 - 124m/game - 7.78m/run
Jared Waerea-Hargreaves - Attack 9 - 103m/game - 8.69m/run
Andrew Fifita - Attack 9 - 133m/game - 7.31m/run
Trent Merrin - Attack 9 - 142m/game - 9.35m/run

Seems easily deserving of a 9 in attack to me.

Defence
Josh McGuire - Defence 7 - 911 tackles - 95% tackle rate - 38 tackles/game
Trent Merrin - Defence 8 - 686 tackles - 95% tackle rate - 33 tackles/game
Jared Waerea-Hargreaves - Defence 8 - 766 tackles - 92% tackle rate - 29 tackles/game
Aiden Tolman - Defence 8 - 698 tackles - 98% tackle rate - 33 tackles/game
Matt Scott - Defence 8 - 554 tackles - 96% tackle rate - 28 tackles/game
James Graham - Defence 8 - 982 tackles - 95% tackle rate - 35 tackles/game
Nate Myles - Defence 9 - 644 tackles - 90% tackle rate - 36 tackles/game

Again, easily an 8 in defence. I'd be tempted to push Myles down to an 8 and move McGuire and Graham up to a 9 frankly.

Whilst I'm still a bit hesitant because Segeyaro is only young, he is probably statistically deserving of a 10/8.

Farah is probably a 9/9.

I see a 10 as someone who dominates the game - not someone who has the best stats in that position. JT, Inglis, wingers when they're scoring tries for fun and props who bash up whole packs dominate the game and are 10s. Trust me, I love Segeyaro more than any of you, I just don't think he's quite a 10.

Farah can die in an aids riddled hole.

I think he's pretty close to that, i reckon if he played against the knights the Panthers would have got up. We'll see how he goes against the Cows, but i'm positive he's the panthers mvp.

It's a mistake to refer to Smith being overrated in trying to get an upgrade. The DB is currently full of both overrated and underrated guys. Smith does not deserve his 10 (nor does Srama deserve an 8 def imo), so it's not a great argument to say "He's a 10, so he should be".

Well, if you want to say 'This guy is a 10 because Smith is', you'd br better off comparing Segeyaro's current stats against Smith's 2013 stats, since that was when he was last rated.

At season's end, I'd like to compile a kind of guide for rating each position. Obviously some stats are more important to certain positions than others, so it makes sense to use different criteria for each position.
