Cleary leaving is laughable. Just another bullshit story by Telecrap to stir the Panther pot..

It was getting around here a few weeks ago, certainly a strange one. It would be like leaving a job half done, extremely disappointing. But it is a professional environment and there are a lot of factors involved, it could just be money, location or some kind of personal problem. IF he did leave(which I doubt) atleast he can say he left us in a better position than when he got here. But yeah I doubt that one.

My biggest fear if Ivan left would be the effect on Soward and our juniors being picked off by the silvertails, we have a couple good coaches ready to step into the void if it happened.

triple M supergrass reported that Trent Barrett is rumoured to move to Manly to be assistant to Toovey with the view of maybe becoming head coach in 2016.

if this is the case, surely Ivan is staying put.

Not a big loss at all. Would be more worried if we lost Brennan. He's the perfect successor to Cleary IMO.

Yeah Brennan would be a bigger loss, he is a much of a sure thing as an assistant coach can be in terms of becoming a good FG coach. Also he has played a pretty big role is developing a lot of of players through nyc into reggies and FG.

Barrett will make a good FG coach imo but id rather him work it out elsewhere.

same here, Garth > Trent.

Perhaps Gus has told Trent that Garth will take the reins whenever Ivan goes.

Wasn't Garth asked to apply at Newcastle?? He must have been told then his longer term future at Penrith.

He was told he was free to apply. He withdrew his application as well. I imagine Gus would have told him he is in our long term plans but obviously wouldn't stand in his way of getting a head coaching gig.
