So maybe with the Hoppa to Dogs announcement we will see the all pieces relating to centres that are moving fall into place.

Next announcement should be Lafai to ??? and then Hiku to ???

You'd have to think that Hiku would have to be released for the Walker signing to be announced at Manly.

Lafai is interesting, he's obviously signed up somewhere and unless it's somewhere that needs to release someone else then that announcement shouldn't be too far away.

It will be sorted before round 1 mate.

Hoopa doesn't have a contract anywhere until it's sorted so he will ask to have it heard before round 1.

We won't know the effect on out cap do can't "replace" him without knowing the consequences.

I reckon everyone knows the outcome now and are just waiting to approval from the NRL to the court settlement and subsequent signings.

Doesn't look like Hopoate need to speed things up now... http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/...a-eels-star-will-hopoate-20151207-glhalh.html

If we were paying any part of his contract surely that would be all over the news sites with people sticking their boots into the club.

Well we've taken Fitzy to court in the last week for breaching a confidentiality agreement, so maybe the parties won't blab ?

That would be a confidential part of the settlement no doubt

It will have been all sorted out. Why would Bulldogs sign him officially without knowing our position, the outcome of the case, how much they might be able to get us to pay, and whether there will be any cap issues for all parties?

I reckon the announcements will keep coming.

It would if he signed for as much as or less than the reduced offer which from memory was $500 odd thousand per year.

Other than that, no.

He has an obligation to minimise his losses. Plus signing a contract crystallises his loss and simplifies the claim.

But I reckon it's been settled behind the scenes.

No one wanted it to go to court.

If hoppa had wanted it heard he would have sought it be expedited.

It's all part of the bluff in all these negotiations. A potentially expensive one.

If that happens then:

Hayne ---> Eels

:sarcasm:
Oh f**k no... we just got rid of a washed up has been that was out of the game for two years in Hopoate.

Why would we spend big bucks to sign another one who's been out of the game, with his best years in league now also behind him?

A significant amount of time passed between the letter of intent and the revised contract being offered.
Hmm, we could well lose the case then.

Signing with the Dogs shouldn't matter - it will down to be whether this new contract was signed for less than the other offers he fielded while waiting for us to follow through on the original offer.

If he's now signed/registered for less than offers he'd rejected, than I'd say we would definitely be liable for his losses. If the court ruled this way, in this isntance it shouldn't be counted in the cap. But there is a potential salary cap loophole there, that the NRL needs to close for any future repeat offender clubs.
