The salary cap isn't the problem, the TPAs are the problem, its just not an even playing field.

What the nrl /arlc actually need for the fans is more transparency on the breakdown of tpas, not necessarily what each player is earning, but what companies are involved both directly and indirectly with the club, it would level a greater degree of responsibility of ensuring each and every club is reaching its commercial potential.

Yes Brisbane has an uncontested market but they are run as a professional club, we need to be able to demonstrate that we are maximising our corporate networks before we can cry foul on the system, because the chooks as an example no doubt have done this better than anybody

I really don't think clubs like the Broncos / Souths / roosters have any more success then other sides because of their so called TPA advantages. They have struggled quite a bit over the years like other sides. The key to success is not really TPA advantages but having a well run club.

Roosters only a few years ago were struggling ( and probably have peaked now), Broncos never look likely to win the Comp before Bennetts return while its taken Souths years to win the Comp and doubt they will win in 2016.

Look at the dogs / manly they are similar to us, yet have had more success due to being run better.

Plus it's a cycle with league, clubs go up and go down, I reckon there is a good chance this year that we will have a better squad then Souths / roosters, time will tell - if we do it won't be because of financial advantages but some good decisions over the last 2-3 years ( thus being well run)

Except I would go a step further and say that it isn't enough to get "people that know what they are doing".

Those people also need to be left alone by the partisan f**king idiots that have been loving this club to death for the last 30 years.
Loving the club to death, it's a good analogy. They all claim to love the club but they all have a funny way of showing it.

Well we need to get smarter about how our cap is managed. Hopefully Schuey is adding value in that space. Having good third party networks would be the best outcome.

Like maybe Bill Moss's The Premiership Club...oh wait.

Exactly. Until we get people who know what they are doing with connections to sponsorship $$ into positions of power at our club we won't be successful. That doesn't mean Souths, Roosters, Dogs are cheats. It means they have the right people in the right jobs.

Pretty obvious really, but many here love an excuse.

I wouldn't worry about those parasites, they would all quickly melt away if we had the right kind of people running the joint. They would have f**k all to say or attack, and look totally moronic if they for example came out and slammed someone of Politis's ilk.

No, the only reason we have this constant white ant crap going on is cause of the incompetency of the idiots we always seem to attract on the board.

I mean why does a club like Parra not have the TPA's setup that could easily find $100-150k to sign our preferred option Hiku, who by all accounts seems to favour us, Parra as his first option due to coach and former club mates, but we just can't seem to make it happen. Pretty damning and sad really. Especially when the TPA's could have been available, but rejected by our brave and confident board.

I heard a few weeks ago that we are after two outside backs. It is now being reported that we are after both Lafai and Hiku. Assuming that is true how much do we have under the cap? My guess is about $700k. That is serious coin, enough for a superstar to return home with $300k in TPA perhaps? Just thinking out loud. The fact of the matter is if he does not play another single NFL game next year and is again on the practice squad that is more than enough money to entice him back for the first year at least. We can then work on his second and third year. Just bringing it up because it now seems we have missed out on all the centres available for 2016. Apologies if I am rehashing old shit. I just don't believe in that I'm never coming back shit.

This is so true and something that I have been thinking and worrying about for some weeks. A classic case of bird in the hand or two in the bush scenario. Oh what to do...what to do?

I don't think MJC needs any cheating from the casino fornhis trick to work.

Private room, rusty and 5 players. They all walk out laughing about their various winnings (even if they lost), and rusty gives them a brown paper bag outside.

Or adjust to make it seem more plausible or devious or whatever.

You mean like something similar to the current Parra sponsors running a lucky door prize for an apartment and a random Parra player just happened to win it?

I reckon we'd have less than half of that. Pre-season training has already started FFS. It would be criminal if we still had a lot of cap space remaining, considering there was no guarantee of any quality players coming available, and no guarantee of signing any of them.

I reckon for 2016 we probably have $200k-$300k free, and we're intending on using it to upgrade a few of blokes on minimum contract (or less) once we decide on our top 17 for next year. We could also use it to front load contract extensions.

Anyone see the article with Watmough stating he had a poor attitude towards Parra last year?. Just wanted to get in, get out and go home. Outstanding leadership. Weren't people saying it's what Watmough brings off the field that counts?

Disgraceful. I'd say he is just about finished. So much for bringing great leadership to the young forwards. What's that knock off time? Catcha fellas...
