They did the TPAs as best we could. If it could be done better they (and their predecessors and their predecessors before them) would have. You can't get blood from a stone. You either have wealthy fans willing to 'sponsor' players as an inducement to play for your club (but deniable, from the club's point of view) or you don't. And if you don't you either spend less on players than the top clubs or you find ways to pay players outside the cap and hope you don't get caught.

Brad Arthur is showing himself to be a very good coach. Under the pressures this season has thrown up he continues to get the best out of our badly depleted students. He won't get it but he could easily be coach of the year

Brad is doing extremely well.

I agree they won't give him any award in a year like this, but he should hold his head high with how he's got us playing and how we continue to play given the circumstances.

You're not understanding the purpose of TPAs. They're not for paying players more than they're worth, they're for paying players outside the cap (and therefore overspending). They are either arms length or they're not. If they're not then it's cheating. If they are then it's got nothing to do with club management.

I'm responding to your original logic fail claim that the Board and Management are somehow not responsable for the bothced TPAs, which (rather than the "expensiveness" of the squad) are the actual reason we are being penalised points.

You clearly missed it when you stated that arms length (i.e. legal) TPAs are the responsibility of the board. If they're up to the club's management they are not arms length. And thus illegal.

Sigh. It's the Board and Management's responsibility that we don't engage in illegal TPAs. Our TPAs were botched because they were not arms length, therefore the Board/Management are responsible - contrary to what you were somehow trying to argue.

And they were not arms length because there are no 'personalities' around the club willing to hand out genuine TPAs. So from the board's point of view they could either cheat, or spend less (just the cap) on players.

The answer to your question is no. Your second sentence is fine. Your third sentence is a simplification. Your fourth sentence goes off the track - we "spent too much" only because the Board and Management failed in their responsibility to ensure we had no dodgy TPAs, since the combined "worth" of any club's players is more than the cap. Your fifth sentence is a truism, and has nothing to do with the question at the start of your post.

I maybe being a bit paranoid here but is anyone else concerned about BA's welfare and wellbeing atm. He has to put up with enough shit and constant drama after drama over the last 6 months that lasts a lifetime or coaching career depending on what way you look at it. Everyone i hear speak about the him say what a strong leader he is but at the end of the day BA is human like of all us and there is only so much an individual can take before either pissing off and quitting.

Spot on mate, and no doubt Brads doing it real tough and after some of the days we have no doubt he goes home some nights and asks himself if its all worth it.

BA seems like an exceptionally mentally tough individual to me. I have enormous faith in the dude. He'll be right.

To be honest I don't think I, in fact probably most people, would begrudge him if he left.
