1. Bird
2. Moses
3. Blake Austin
4. Chad Townsend
5. Tyrone Roberts
6. Josh Reynolds

In this order is my hit list for 5/8ths to pursue. Would take Ash Taylor before any of them but that horse has bolted.
When is Austin off contract? He'd be awesome.

Not many good general play kickers in that bunch....probably Townsend and Roberts would be my major targets, although not if Townsend is asking anything like even half of what's being reported.

Moses isn't a lot better than Brooks tbh, garbage defender and severely overrated. I'd hope we don't look at him.

I guess we'll find out now that he's back.

Even if he kills it, the fact that his TPAs were lumped into our cap because they were illegal meant he was on far too much money....they made the right call letting him go.

He was a great signing at 800-900k with the rest in TPAs, but our board did the dodgy and it meant that we had to front the full amount under the cap.

I'm probably on my Pat Malone here, but I genuinely think we can manufacture Gutherson into a good 5/8.

He already has ticker. He has great defence. He has a dangerous running game.

I believe he is suffering from the coach trying to protect him; he hardly got an opportunity to shine yesterday.

I believe the way forward is to take the brakes off Clint, and give him the licence to play what he sees.

Clint reminds me of Cronk, only more athletic; he will work on his game until he makes it.

I honestly think he will make a good 5/8, if we stop putting it all on Norman's shoulders.

But I think my opinion would be few and far between...

I think he can become a good footballer, but I don't think he has the natural talents to be a legitimate halfback option. Obviously when you play with Gutherson in the 6 you are only playing with one legitimate half. That's not to say we can't be successful that way, but I think we limit our options.

My original comment was tongue in cheek but given how shit our luck is he will probably kill it this year.......although he's just done his hammy in the warm up.........

Yep, Lolohea into the halves and Ayshford into the backline. Kearney missed an opportunity to bring Ligi Sao's brother into the side.

Regarding Bird being a better player than Mitch Moses, I agree. However in this case quality isn't the same thing as value. Moses brings a rarer and higher demand set of skills (he is a specialist half) than Bird, meaning he is potentially worth more as a player.

Bird is not a specialist half, and we'll see today that he's not a specialist fullback either.

And Moses is a goalkicker.
