That's true. It just beggars belief that it was the idiots at our club who were the first to exploit that loophole.
There was a breach of trust, same as how the Melbourne Storm got caught. Are they run by idiots? Any club doing the dodge is necessarily vulnerable to a breach of trust. It's got nothing to do with whether or not they are idiots. Smart people are just as likely to shit themselves and scramble to stab each other in the back. Perhaps more so.

Sure but I think the transcripts revealed how inept they were. At the very least I think it's fair to say they didn't have a lot of experience at cheating or even exploiting loopholes. Our guys didn't keep a second set of books, they recorded the cheating in the minutes. And had records still on the computers when they invited the forensic accountants in.

Unfortunately getting away with stuff properly requires specialist technical knowledge, which entails broadening the circle of trust - a poor choice when you're already under the pump by investigators. And how many management teams include significant technical knowledge? f**k all in my experience, and I have plenty of experience in that area.

And no one from the Storm was charged by the police.
That's because they were only willing to risk fleecing the NRL. Breaking their laws involves no jail time, and that's why we also kept records (which helped get us caught), and why most of our crew will stay out of jail.

In fact I am astounded when I see former Eels employees facing charges of fraud and whatnot. There were definitely some dopes involved in our rort, but they all seem to be paid fall guys, not board members.

I guess we'll see how many actually do get charged. afaia it's only the idiot with the Todd fixation so far? But it does look as though we kept records of tax fraud, but the Storm only had records of NRL cheating. And their cheating was bigger and for longer.

Thankyou loser, if you liked it it was well worth putting up.
It's I who should be thanking you. I was in traffic and and I was about to go all Michael Douglas in Falling Down and then I saw that horse... it was as though I'd just dived into an alpine stream. Refreshing. I swear there was only two, maybe three, more road rage incidents before I got home.
