Coach McGregor routinely professes his love for the Dragons. He is an Illawarra league legend and every club needs committed ex-players around the club helping to enhance the history of the club and assist with driving the culture. However that does not mean that these very same players have the skill set to coach at an elite level.
The love and affection Coach McGregor feels for the team will be tested closely in coming days and plays out as follows:
Scenario 1:
Coach McGregor thanks the club for the opportunity but concedes that after 3 terrible seasons that he is not the man to take the club forward. He is graciously thanked by all and sundry and is always welcomed back as a club legend. He resigns.
Scenario 2:
Coach McGregor shows his absolute selfishness and delusional nature and refuses to accept he needs to accept responsibility and grimly hangs on to his position daring the club to terminate his services.
In the next month or so we are going to find out the following:
i. How much Coach McGregor really loves the club; and gracefully resigns.
ii. How much assistance coaches Hornby and Young really love the club; and gracefully resign.
iii. How much CEO Johnston really loves the club and privately requests that said coach and assistance coaches gracefully resign.
iv. How much respected consultant Coyne really loves the club and supports CEO Johnston's private requests that said coach and assistance coaches gracefully resign.
An interesting test awaits CEO Johnston and consultant Coyne. Both of these gentleman have enjoyed strong corporate careers before returning to the club and I wonder if they would accept such poor performances in a corporate worlds as have been submitted by said coach and assistant coaches over these past 3 seasons?
WE ARE ABOUT TO LEARN ALOT ABOUT THE CULTURE OF THE CLUB AND THEIR EXPECTATIONS OF SUCCESS IN THE NEXT 3-4 WEEKS. SADLY I THINK WE WILL BE LET DOWN BADLY.
