Nothing ever changes most club keep producing talent while the Chooks keep buying the talent other clubs produce.....And the NRL are wondering why fans are leaving the game in droves
Yes yes... we're just the absolute worst.

Wait! No we're not.

The Eels are much worse. So are the Bulldogs.

They are both next level "bought not bred". And they have big junior bases.

At least we have an excuse given our base was stolen 50 years ago. Wtf is their excuse?

Our quality established "imports" that can be classified as in demand signings...

Ferguson
Keary

Two. TWO! Three next year with Tedesco.

Now compare that to other clubs before you get your knickers in any more of a twist.

We are successful because we manage the cap better than most and have a keen eye for great value.

Toops, Matterson, Liu, SST, Guerra, Tetevano... all excellent players brought to the club on the cheap.

Then there's our own development... Mitchell, Manu, Pearce, Napa, Cordner, Aubusson, Friend, Watson.

We run the perfect model. We consistently identify and develop great young talent; purchase underrated/unwanted players from other clubs; and put the cherry on top with the odd superstar signing.

Almost everyone just wishes their club was that well run. It's not our fault we're not next level dumb like the Warriors and throwing over 2m over 4 years at over the hill 32 yr old props. Or the Eels two years ago with that inexplicable Watmough deal.

We used to be that club from 2006-2009; but not anymore. We learned and improved and now people are jealous at our success.

A club doesn't need to own a base, it needs to base its success on creativity

You must have been one of the honest ones then. Just like the Storm;)
The key to honest car rebirthing is removing compliance plates from write-offs . . . that will never happen as long as insurance companies make money from car theft. The Storm don't need to buy compliance plates, they make their own

Two premierships in 40 years. Success?
Can't get fans to come to the games and then Uncle Nick decides he wants to steal a bowlo off real Easties so he can build a flipping apartment block.
What a great club, no wonder we've all jumped on the bandwagon.

"Steal a bowlo"? Yeah right  If they had not merged with Easts Leagues they would have had to close due to their lack of finance.

Well thought out and convincing post.

I still hate the roosters. I understand that might be irrational. But I'm comfortable with that.

Not irrational at all.

Rivalries are an integral part of what makes the sport great.

And one must detest their rivals. All part of the fun.

Exactly.

I'd much prefer rival clubs to hate my club than feel ambivalent about us.

And I much prefer a game against a club I hate.

Even then Ferguson was sacked by the Raiders and deregistered by the NRL, his bargaining power was severely reduced. Keary wasn't wanted by his current club, though was wanted by the Dragons. He got to choose whether he wanted to play under Trent Robinson or Paul McGregor.
