Also the comments at the bottom aren't the greatest from the public...

Most comments on any RL articles are petty negative rubbish from Union fans. That's not exclusive to the WC or NZ. You'd think they'd just not bother reading articles about a sport they don't like...

I personally just returned from Nz a few days ago, I didn't see much promotion at all, never on tv and not many people I spoke with seemed that interested. Even league people didn't seem that interested, mostly down to the Warriors being a joke and the all blacks dominating.

Would love to see NZers attitudes towards the 2 games if the All Blacks ever had a form slump and the Kiwis played more than 3 games a year

Only two reporters thoughts, but still disappointing to see of the 1,100 people that have filled out survey 64% are not interested in the RLWC. Shows how much more work we have to go in NZ to change the perception of the public.

Problem is when it comes to sport most people are sheep. Unfortunately even amongst a lot of (N)RL fans internationals are a touch 'uncool' because some gutter journalist wrote that every team is solely made up of East Coast Australians and Wiganers and Australia will win the final 3719-0 FACT.

Funny how union people always claim league is the simple game yet they take our coaches to teach them defensive strategies and our attacking nuances....now why wouldn't we take their coaches?

Kiwis get all chuffed about the All Blacks "deeds" yet they have NEVER lost a pool game in the Union World Cup and average 60-12 wins in the 28 games they have played.

It's 20 times harder to win the league grand final at club footy than win a union world cup.

Meh. Hamish Bidwell is a wanker and the stuff.co.nz comments section is a hive of union and soccer trolls.

We get the same crap every time pre tournament. The product on the field will do the talking from tomorrow night onwards...

NZ needs a lot of work. Such an untapped hotbed for RL. There should be at least twenty NRL games in NZ a year and 3 tests every year. NZRL always seems skint?

In Auckland now. Very little promotion of the WC visible. I've seen three banners advertising the game and you had to look hard to find them, one near the airport and two on Federal St. A bit of coverage on the TV last night but they seemed more interested in RTS possibly going to union. Still, it's better than the BBC who covered Australia v England and then didn't bother to mention the game in the ensuing news programmes.
