Any information on what they will do with the site .They should make it a members sports bar for away games and on game day .Call it the red v sports bar so all us dragon supporters can go and eat drink and watch the game .St george leagues on game day is a complete joke no members discount on drinks at bar .Why become a member of the league's club no benefit .

It's a great piece of land to economically benefit? I Hope someone has the right business sense to benefit the club long term not short term.

They should just sell the whole Leagues club site to St.George Hospital. Doust has prior experience in running Hospitals, so that kills two birds......we get rid of him and get a massive cash injection.
Leagues clubs have become a relic of the past, much like our Board. They could use the cash to build some sort of Centre of Excellence in the Gong and that becomes the Dragons HQ for everything. The NRL will kill off the Sydney Suburban grounds anyway, so Kogarah Jubilee is hanging on life support awaiting the new Stadia shit to happen.
The old Saints club is sick.....time to cash in and help cure the sick!

Disagree with any sort of sale of the leagues club - the place is begging for a refresh and if the board and CEO of the joint had half a brain between them, it could easily become an absolute money factory. It's got the bones and location to be a premier major club within the industry.

The bones and location make it viable for a Chinese backed Casino only. Even has the name ... "The Dragon"

The whole Club has gone to the pack , upstairs is a total mess needs a whole revamp . Really there is nothing that draws me to go there , the food is average no atmosphere , they run very little to attract . Its in a time warp . As for Sizzlers better of with a Macdonals there ....

No chance of getting a Casino but it doesn't need to be. The club itself is a bohemoth, only needs a refurb (as opposed to a reconstruction) to come into the 21st century. The land is there for construction of all sorts of hospitality-industry amenities; hotel, child-care, even retail area. Close to the station, sits on a major arterial road, next to a golf course, dense population and by far from the CBD.

And yes, as with any licensed club, gaming intake would form a huge part of the revenue but these clubs need to give gamblers a reason to want to go there!

It's all there and could easily become a Premier Club like Revesby Workers, Bankstown Sports or Penrith and Canterbury Leagues.

Benny V the only thing wrong with a refurb is the upstairs auditorium has supposed concrete cancer and has been deemed unsafe. It's going to cost a bomb to fix, so maybe cheaper to demolish and start again!!! Such a pity cause in the hey day that auditorium drew some incredible shows and acts of world standard.
Isn't it now just a run down shit hole used for storage?

I heard the concrete cancer thing wasn't true, just cover for the fact that there's no purpose for the Auditorium at the moment. If it were actually a thing, it would have to be treated anyway before causing structural damage to the rest of the structure. And treatment is not difficult.

Any treatment to structural elements on this type of building would be magnitudes cheaper than reconstruction.

Quite possible Benny V but it's only what I've been.told from someone close in the entertainment industry that use to be a regular at the old Taj. The defining words I recall were.....doesn't meet safety standards and has structural problems that make it cheaper to close than repair. Very very sad for an old icon!
Sort of reflects our CEO and planning process.

'Cheaper to close rather than repair' refers to the Auditorium, not the club - i.e. The room itself wasnt generating enough revenue to justify restoring and using it. That, of course, is governed by the amount of revenue it generates, which in turn is reflective of the use of the room. Of course, the idiots in charge of running our leagues club wouldnt know what is required to fill a room that size on a regular basis. Makes more sense now.

The nearest Sizzler to me turned into a Rashay's. I'm gonna miss then pan bread.

**EDIT** Surely our leagues club would find a way to restore it's former glory. It's sad that it performs the same as the football club. It's not all about gambling money anymore so they need to think outside the box.
