What’s going on at Penrith?

Seems to be the story with Griffin. I heard in 2014 when the Tigers were looking to replace Potter the Board had pretty much settled on Griffin prior to the interviews.

In his interview Griffin mumbled and bumbled his way through the whole thing. He didn’t have a plan set out as to how he was going to fix the club and the direction he was willing to take it in. It was an interview for a job, one of which there are only 15 position in Australia, which he basically had, and he went in completely unprepared. The Board couldn’t believe what they saw and couldn’t cross his name off the list quick enough.
Gould just sacked Ivan and gave him the job without interviewing anyone.

Almost impossible to believe.

Hard to believe Penrith are in this position. A few years back they have a bit of a player cleanout, unearth some great local talent & make a big impression in 2014 signalling their intent for years to come. Fast forward to now & it’s looking like it’s back to square one.

Frenzy.

Yeh I kinda laughed when experts were saying a move to the GC will revive his nrl career. I can’t think of one player who’s moved onto bigger things at the Titans

Nathan Peats did but he’s in a rip roaring minority

Oh f*ck. But Griffin probably didn't even have to be interviewed by Gus, he was probably told he had the job before he sacked Ivann

Mate from what I was told it was unbelievable. They said 'so what do you think you can do for us' and he pretty much said 'ahhh coach footy.' They asked what systems he would put in place, looking from the outside what he thought we needed to improve and he basically had nothing.

As opposed to that Taylor walked in with stats from the last few years, pin pointed what needed to happen and how he was going to fix it. Sure, the bloke failed miserably but even when he was at the tigers I at least saw what he was trying to do, even if it wasn't working.

Griffin seems to have no plan at all and the team only looks good when they throw it out the window and just play footy. The last 5 minutes of the game v the raiders when Moylan tore it up is how they should be playing. There's a team of natural footy players that aren't allowed to play.

Bring back Matt Elliott. Josh Mansour will thrive at five-eighth.

Elliott would have been able to coach us to consecutive 6th position finishes too. Griffin is Elliott Mk II.

If Cleary had a proper night's sleep more often, he may still be the Penrith coach.

If the Panthers aren't careful they'll end up being a carbon copy of the Warriors. You do not want to be a carbon copy of the Warriors.

1) Dominant juniors - check

2) Wasting dominant juniors - check

3) Sacking successful coach because reasons - check

4) Hiring a gumby plodbush to replace him - check

5) Bringing in overpriced underperformers to fix percieved issues - check

6) Coaching all natural talent out of the players because ooohh yay - completions - check.

The only thing stopping the Panthers going full Warrior is that they have the benefit of the vastly superior Aussie systems so their juniors atleast have a grasp on the fundamentals before their careers get derailed.

It never seems to get reported anywhere, but for the vast majority of their existence they've been a club that feeds on cast offs, or young blokes who never quite made it at their initial club. Got a disciplinary issue? It's ok, Gold Coast will take you.

Aren't you a Warriors fan?
