Let's gloss it over....lol. Y'all keep bringing up the heat like there is only one team is playing in it. No team has ever won a premiership after getting done by 50+ in a regular season game to my knowledge. Not that I'm a stats sort of guy.
We probably won't win a premiership this year. Do you think we're spending as much on players as all the other clubs? Is the season not worth watching if we're not the best team?

We had 33% of the ball because we are Illdisciplined and are still a very dumb football team.

We gave away a penalty (Kane Evans I believe)!after our 6th tackle kick on the first set of the game. It wasn’t even an attacking kick. The idiot was just in front of the kicker and didn’t give the fullback 10m That is just dumb. Then after they had the ball for a few sets the very first tackle we drop the ball from the scrum win.
And it snowballed from there.

We learnt from our mistakes early last year and we will learn from them this year. But we need to stop thinking about the finals and start respecting our opponents, because they have both been fired up for us so far.

Our forwards don't make opposition defences work over time mate, it was quite evident in todays game.
We didn't make them work at all. Our six middle forwards made a total of 48 runs. Manly's middle forwards ran the ball 85 times. No wonder the heat killed us. And considering most of their middles are a defensive weakness we really should have tried to move them around. Instead we just went from sideline to sideline.
Our defence was horrible from the second the game started, so spare me your bullshit.
It was indeed, so why imply that 'bending their line' would fix our defence?

Agree, hard running forwards improve your defense by taking energy out of there guys for when have the ball that is how. Pous theory is f**king stupid.
Small team across park that needs adressing.
The 'small team' did just fine last year. Why does it need addressing now?

Who says?
Brad Arthur said French needed to improve his fitness to handle all the running at fullback. He also said Hayne was always one of the worst at the endurance stuff. Put two and two together. Or, just look at the fact Hayne hasn't been picked at fullback. You think he's playing centre because we don't have enough centres at the club? Auva'a won a premiership at centre. Takairangi played there for the Kiwis.

But that doesn't mean that a bloke from a different sport wont have different ideas about what metrics they should be hitting, irrespective of what they have done in previous sports. Whether this is good or bad. After all, if the players just needed to reach certain fitness score or metric then why wouldnt we just have Forty20 and his mates out there making sure they reach the scores.
Because those blokes aren't qualified strength and conditioning coaches. They don't know how to make players stronger, fitter, etc while minimising injury. This bloke does. The fact he is from AFL is irrelevant. You think Brad Arthur doesn't know the guy has been coaching athletes from a different sport? It's totally irrelevant. The coach would know NRL players need to be conditioned to the standard of the sport (obvious from historical data) and he knows how to get there. Any fitness coach could do it, no matter which athletes he's been working with. The human body is the same regardless of the sport. The only difference is the numbers. How to achieve them is bread and butter for these people.

There is an old saying, that there is no substitute for match fitness and we played 50% less matches than the Panthers when we played them and 33% less matches than Manly before today.

Why did we play only 50% of the trials we played in 2017?
We played an in-house trial under match conditions.

I actually think there is little between most teams on any given day this season. I expect us to win plenty of games, but Im more hopeful we will have a good season rather than confident we will have a good season

Im astounded that so called pundits have us ahead of 12 other sides on the Premiership betting. I'll give it away if were realistically any more of a chance of winning the comp than the Panthers, Broncos, Dragons, Sharks, Manly and Raiders. I expect us to have better seasons than Dogs, Souths, Warriors, Knights, Tigers and Titans, but they're still going to be competitive as a few have shown already.
It's round two. Nobody has shown anything yet. A couple of teams have gotten the jump on the premiership ladder but that's about all that is relevant at this stage. Form is meaningless this early on.

It's unusual that a team would be like that in the first two week of a season. Why do you think this would be?
Looking too far ahead. We want another shot at the finals, not to have to grind out 25 weeks on the way there. The shit attitudes will get fixed or replaced. There's a reason Arthur has built such a deep squad. The idea of him refusing to drop favourites is bullshit.

You dont make 50 tackle busts and 11 line breaks unless your opponents defensive attitude is shit house.
I didn't say we weren't shithouse. I said Manly were excellent. And they were.
Most teams whose opponents offer little resistance should be clinical in essentially what is little more than an opposed training run.

The coach himself admitted the team didn't have a go.
Well we've not had a go before and done better than 54-0. I think Manly deserve plenty of credit for their performance.

Perhaps we've only appeared to have gotten worse because of how attrocious our opponent was for the first 30 minutes last week. There is no reason that we couldn't have been in a whole lot of hurt like today had the Panthers not been their own worse enemy for the first 30 minutes. After all, once the Panthers started to hold onto the ball last week we weren't even competitive.
Our goal line defence was good all game last week. Penrith only scored three tries (the same amount as us) despite dominating possession for 50 minutes.
You have to ask how the team who had all the ball for the first 30 minutes last week was the most fatigued.
I did ask that, and the answer I came up with was that the team wasn't fatigued so much as the middle defenders were fatigued, including three that came off the bench and decided it was too hot to move up in defence.

Today we decided it at kickoff rather than after 25 minutes.

The game plan for them was to give an ageing minichiello a break, to keep up the intensity in attack. We are getting a slow unfit winger, to chime in at fullback. Makes perfect sense.
The intent is to get a stronger, more skilled and more experienced player some opportunity with early ball that he wouldn't otherwise get at centre. I think it's a good idea. It's not the reason we have been losing.
