New Strategic Plan

I watched the video, just a flashy puff piece. Says what we're going to achieve but not how we're going to do it.

Is there a link to a document anywhere?

What would everyone here think is reasonable to have achieved in 5 years' time?

I would go:

Crowds – 18k league average by 2022

  • New stadia built in Townsville, Sydney (ANZ, Allianz, Parra) and Stadium policy for all NRL teams rolled out – NRL to assist with negotiating Stadium deals
  • Coordinated club / NRL attendance and membership push (NRL with scheduling and marketing of the game as a whole / Clubs with game-day promotion and game-day experience)
  • Ticket pricing review now that the clubs are well funded by the NRL through the TV deal
TV Revenue

  • NRL to schedule intelligently against other major codes to maximise TV viewership
  • NRL to market heavily in Perth, Melbourne & Adelaide to boost national viewership
  • NRL to decide on two additional expansion areas and call for bids for a 2022 start – use the extra game as a selling point to boost TV revenue in the next deal starting 2023
Expansion

  • Decide which markets we want to go into next – I would go Brisbane 2 (for a weekly Brisbane game at Suncorp and an extra derby) and Perth for the additional TV slot and a new market with a decent size following ready to go
  • Decide what the next two expansion markets are and decide when they will enter then call for bids – I would go Adelaide and New Zealand 2 in 2028
  • Use the second tier for further expansion for areas that won’t or can’t have an NRL licence. Organise them into three strong conferences North-East (based on the current QLD Cup with a Northern Territory Team and PNG), South-East (based on the current NSW Cup with Fiji and Adelaide (up until 2028), Pacific based around a newly launched semi-pro New Zealand comp including teams from Tonga, Samoa & The Cook Islands
  • New grass-roots funding to help strengthen the game's heartlands and push into Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and New Zealand (the latter three ready for NRL expansion)
Rep Footy

  • Continue to build the Pacific Tests alternating between the new Parramatta Stadium and Eden Park Auckland. The even is to lock in Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, PNG, Cook Islands and an invitational side to attempt to build an Origin style event which will provide extra revenue for the NRL, the nations involved and allow the Pacific players to receive fairly good match payments for international matches
Sell Origin to the broadcasters as three Sunday night matches with no other NRL on during those weekends from 2023 onwards to allow for the expansion of the Pacific Test into three events (maybe even an actual Pacific Cup) but I would keep it at big stadia in Aus & NZL for now so that the players, nations and NRL can get maximum revenue from the games

Bizarre to have a media event to launch the strat plan, and not actually have it available!
The 2017 annual report is also a month late compared to previous years. Clearly Todd's admin cuts at NRLHQ is creating a back log of work!

They failed in all their major KPI's in the 13-18 plan, expect this one to be a serious fluff piece with very few measurables.

Yep sitting on their backsides doing nothing.Like Manly salary caps, new women's competition, negotiations with RLPA,negotiations and blow ups over club grants and the 130%,negotiating deals for SOO in Adelaide/Perth and Melbourne, flogging off the Tits and Newcastle, dealing with insular NRL clubs CEOs .Interviewing off field idiots who want to get back in the NRLNegotiatingwith betting organisations for a bigger slice of the take.Speaking to teh Stae Govt about the new stadiums and the effect not having them will do.
Yep absolutely nothing going on.

Don't remember Greenberg (despite his faults ,although he doesn't whinge) spelling out the KPIS for 2013-2018.
If you set the KPI bar low, you create laziness,if you set it too high you'll
have lite chance of getting close.
I don't care if the SP is not in available print ATT, as long as they are on the front foot out there ,not like timid Tommies, and getting moving on the plan.
Still booing Santa Claus.

If you hate the NRL so much why do you want a team in their competition?

Hate is a very strong word, incompetence is more cringe worthy than hate inspiring I find.

and to answer your question, because I am a RL fan and I believe that to see RL grow in WA, a top tier team in Perth will help a great deal.

Must be tough doing all that with just $450million income. I just don't know how they manage it. How can anyone expect them to have actually produced a strat plan in time for the media release of said strat plan with all that going on. lol.

Eeyore loves his AFL.

ambivalent, and occasionally jealous, would be more words Id use for my feelings on AFL.

Only sport I would use the hate in relation to is Union, and even then it more a dislike than outright hatred, as they are scum who have tried to damage RL since its inception.

Its very rewarding to know so many on here are interested in my feelings lol

it's comes under the category of time management, your approach is they seem to be doing nothing ,with your constant whining.
The things I have spelt out are just a fraction of what they get involved in.Yes they stuff up at times.

You can have $500m income, but it's what comes out in the wash and what goes on behind the scenes, not behind your vivid imagination.

Whats the big deal about a brochure outlining a SP, that must be on hand forthwith.

It wouldn't matter what a rl administration did,you would still whinge.
Every one of your posts on this sites one of negativity, which says something.

Because without any commitments, it's just all more smoke and mirrors from the Kings Of Spin.

But we had it all spelt out when Smith ran the show(was the King of Spin), and even then our whining mate
complained about the KPIs not being reached.

You can have all the brochures ,promises, such as what Govts do, and still fail to get it off the ground. Bit like the M6 promised over many years, with plans etc, and still being stuffed around.

Actions speak louder than printed words.
