Rumoured Signings

Naiquama has been solid without being great for years, I can see why Cleary wouldn’t be rushing for his signature. Rona may be an X factor on the wing
Rona two years out of the game playing rugby, not sure I would have ever rated him as a X factor player, but he would walk into our backline

I wish the Roosters had signed him instead of Reece Robinson. Rona was a bit of a gun when he was with us in the lower grades.

He’s defiently not going to fix our problem that’s for sure - but he seems to be a replacement for Lillyman/Heighington as he’s in a similar mold. I’m willing to give Brown and Mooney the benefit of the doubt because they haven’t got one wrong yet and they’re still chasing after every prop available...problem is no props will come near us, and the very few gun forwards we’ve had in our system over the past few years (TPJ, Tapine, etc.) ended up at the Raiders. Things looked positive with the Saifitis but they’ve hit their second year syndrome badly. I’m not going to give up on them because props don’t even begin to hit their peak until 24-25 but I’m not convinced they’ll come good again either. All the skills but they don’t have an aggressive bone in their bodies which makes you useless as a front rower.

My biggest fear is that in pure desperation to get some big bodies we’ll make a massive play for Boyd who struggles to keep up now and the interchanges are dropping.

I think Glasbys a pretty good player and a good get. Unsure why most Knights fans seem dismayed with the signing (which seems offiical now), particuarly when most of them were getting wet when they thought they were getting Adam Blair last year.

It’s because our pack have the worst run metres in the comp and we desperately need a couple of aggressive blokes that can bend the line. Glasby is a good/solid player, and we apparently got him at a good price for his experience, but he’s not in mold of prop we need to fix our biggest problem...although to be honest I don’t mind the signing because I feel he’s more a replacement for Lilyman/Heighington and everyone needs a few players like that. We just desperately need to add some big, aggressive blokes too.

I certainly wasn’t one of the ones wanting us to sign Blair. Awful player with an even worse attitude.

Fair enough, I still think he’s a good signing for you guys though.

Maybe you weren’t but you’d be in the minority. When it looked like you were signing him I went into your forum, said it was bad idea and got completely blasted by pretty much everyone.

I do think his Qld experience in particular will be very useful for the young side as I’m sure Origin is something they’re all aiming for.

I was surprised hearing how many Knights fans wanted Blair too. He’s the type of player that can turn in some great performances when he’s in a great side and everything is going well around him but he won’t put in the work at all if things aren’t perfect. The absolute last type of player you’d want in a squad where 80% + of them are 22 and under and impressionable. I guess when you’ve been as desperate for props as we have been for a long time though not everyone cares about attitude.

He's not perfect and has limitations for sure, but the bolded is complete utter 100% BS.

If Glasby is our only prop signing then we are in deep shit again next season. I don't think that can be argued.

His consistent 4 runs without fail every game for the tigers may say otherwise. And that was during our somewhat successful period too

Complete joke of a signing

He's always been that way. He's not a difference maker, he doesn't break the line or run 100m. He does his job in defence and probably puts more pressure (and cheap shots) on opposing players than anyone.

Every team needs a variety of tools for different purposes, but you guys purchased him to be something he wasn't and never was.

To imply he's a poor example for young players or has a poor work ethic is like I said, 100% BS.

Yeah fair cop, I remember we bought him to cover the loss of Gareth Ellis at the time and they were just two different sort of players. Just didn’t work

I think he’d be a great addition to our forward pack say now, he’s the player you’d hate to play against

Sounds like the Bulldogs went be releasing anyone we want to keep like Mbye and Klemmer if the CEO is to be believed. Keeping talented juniors over the next two years will be an issue though
