Scoreline will flatter Wigan in the end. They did well to keep the Sombreros to 1 try in the 2nd half but they were out of their league from the opening whistle right up until the end.

Very good defensive effort from the Roosters for a first hit out. Attack was nothing special but it did not have to be. Good signs for them

Caught 20 mins of before work. Game was ok.

Roosters to go back to back this year, their roster is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too stacked. Its borderline ridiculous.

Not a bad way to start a monday!

Scrappy at times but good tough footy with some obvious feeling in it.

Roosters started out with intent, if Wigan were hoping or expecting them to take some time to ease into things, no such luck. JWH hitting with venom and Keary moving the ball nicely. Huge start in the tricolours for BMoz, obviously the Wigan defence will be criticised but he fought hard for 2 of those 3 tries. Bmoz the obvious MOTM honour but Keary and JWH very close.

Much tighter game once Wigan got their heads in it, and managed to find some chinks in the armour. Roosters linespeed and discipline definitely lapsed in the 2nd half but not enough for Wigan to claw back the points.

Aside from the Morris tries which were very uncharacteristic lapses for Wigan (poor Gildart will have nightmares about him) they were a credit to themselves and Super League. Really got stuck in and never let them game get beyond doubt. Their 2 tries were classy and proved the Roosters weren't invincible. George Williams and SOL were real good, Gildart and Hardaker nights to forget probably, looked over-awed at times.

The difference at this level is attention to detail and intensity. The defensive lapses proved the difference, and Roosters superior kicking game and game management made the lead insurmountable. The top SL clubs have talent, speed, fitness in spades but aren't subjected to the same ruthlessness week in week out. Can't afford to switch off against top NRL teams, you'll get punished every time.

The NRL should force them to release one of them to a struggling club. Having any of those blokes playing reserve grade for an entire year while the likes of J Hoffman and Blake Ayshford still get a run at other clubs is just a really bad look.

I regard the disproportionate distribution of talent across the 16 clubs as a big of an issue at the moment as off field behaviour.

Forget the footy, there is a clear and present difference in conditioning between these sides. Sombreros are hitting harder, running harder, chasing harder......They just have Wigan well covered physically
Mind you, they did the same to Melbourne in the gf.
