The Indian Jungle Cats are set to take on the Colombian National team this July in what will be the first time an Indian representative team has taken the field in the code.

Originally formed in 2018 with the backing of the Queensland Rugby League, the Indian Jungle Cats has been focused on introducing the Indian community to the sport, as well looking to muster a squad to represent India at a Representative level.

The Jungle Cats, will take on the 41st ranked Colombian squad in Australia on July 13.

Colombia recently played in the South Americas Cup in Sao Paulo, Brazil, going down to Brazil 52 – 14 and Argentina 28 – 16, whilst also losing to El Salvador in Brisbane 48 – 10.

Players for the India Jungle Cats include Heritage and Ex-Pat players in Rugby League competitions in New Zealand, Australia and the USA, as well as players from India. Full squads will be announced closer to the event.

Interested to see how many Indian based players there are. I’ve not seen much posted online about a domestic comp.

Yes, it has gotten off the ground thanks to the huge efforts of the Latin Heat. It is small but thanks to a mixture of local players and expats living in Brisbane and Sydney, the national team will be competitive at their level.
Good stuff. The work being put in by the Latin heat boys and Ade Adebisi in Nigeria is nothing short of phenomenal.

Gives us expansionists hope for the future.

The Colombian guys have worked hard to recruit players here in OZ and help get stuff started in Colombia itself. Hopefully India do something similar!

Both are at the starting stage of their International RL development so here's hoping for a great game. I'm predicting a 26-12 victory for Colombia :)

The Colombian captain was born in Colombia but adopted as a baby by Australian parents. He grew up in Brisbane playing rugby league and he says that he is incredibly proud to be not only the captain but one of the pioneers in taking the sport he loves back to his birth country.

Fantastic. Do Colombia play in yellow and do you have a pic of their strip??

Also what’s the nickname of the National Colombian team?

Huge Indian following for rugby league in Sydney. You’ll find the next generation are currently playing touch footy and they are skilful players.
