I don't know if anyone else has heard this, but people I know who know/met him say he's a bit of an odd bloke...

They have said for a long time that Cooper was the first player at training and the last to leave. But they said the same thing about Cam. Is this what caused the rift between them? Were both players sleeping at the training facilities so they could be there first and last?

Some say they wouldn't leave the training paddock for weeks on end... It became untenable to keep both in the same squad. (Guy from worlds craziest police chases voice) Someone had to go!

Great, now there's groundswell for him to be an immortal when there at least 5 better halfbacks in the last 30 years. And that's just half backs.

Hall of fame, absolutely.

Yeah the immortal concept will become a total joke.

Smith should definitely be one. Maybe Lockyer or Thurston. Nobody else who’s played over the last 15 years should.

I have no doubt Smith and Thurston will be immortals. But yeah the talk of Cronk being one is ludicrous. These sort of awards are handed out like fantales these days. Lockyer was pumping GI as an immortal not long ago ffs

The Immortals became a redundant concept once a proper Rugby League Hall of Fame was introduced. If the concept had to stick around, every 3-4 years there should have been a new group of Immortals from all sorts of generations and they could feature in marketing the game and helping to celebrate the game's history. The way it is now, why would you want to be a Hall of Famer when you can be an Immortal?

Gallen should be an immortal
Played for one club and still going at 54 years of age
Got banned
Came back and captained the sharks to their first ever premiership
100% goal kicking and boxing record
Punched out Hopoate

Name one half that thrives under those circumstances?

Andrew Johns won games on his own in some very ordinary Newcastle sides. Sterling won comps with Parramatta fwd packs that often played off the back foot or parity at best.

Cronk had never seen adversity in his whole career.
