The Dragons travel to Lottoland on Sunday to take on the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. Throughout 28 matches, there have been several thrilling clashes between the two sides. We look at some of the best.

Semi Final, September 15th, 2006
Sydney Football Stadium

After beating eventual premiers the Brisbane Broncos in the qualifying finals, the Dragons were left to face a Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles side boasting a formidable line-up.

The first half was a tense and physical battle resulting in a slim 8-0 lead to the Dragons. But the final 40 minutes saw the Dragons blow Manly completely off the park.

A double to Brett Morris and tries to Matt Cooper, Ben Hornby and Daryl Millard snuffed out any chance of a Manly revival as the Red V wall held firm keeping Manly scoreless.

The Dragons pulled off one of their most memorable comebacks against Manly in this Round 25 clash in front of a packed house at Kogarah.

Manly flew out of the gates and recorded 24 points in the opening half leaving head coach Nathan Brown to do some soul searching in the sheds.

Whether it was a special half-time speech from Brown, or the passionate home Dragons supporter base cheering them on, the Red V stormed home from a 20-point deficit to finish the match as winners.

Try scoring specialist Nathan Blacklock was once again in the thick of the action picking up a pair of four-pointers. While Matt Cooper, Lincoln Withers and Ben Hornby also crossed the white stripe.

The Sea Eagles weren't completely done with, staging a tense fightback to reign in the rampaging Dragons, but the siren sounded with the home side narrowly in front by two points.

After coming into the NRL with plenty of hype, Matt Dufty made a sensational debut in a match that saw a whopping 13 tries scored.

The Dragons started on fire scoring five tries in the opening 40 minutes while keeping Manly scoreless. But some words from Manly coach and former Dragon Trent Barrett at half time sparked a second half revival.

Manly took just one minute to score in the second 40 and went on to cross the line for four tries in 13 minutes. With the Dragons now only claiming a six-point lead, their engine kicked back into gear. They scored three tries in seven minutes before Dufty scored his first ever NRL try in the 78th minute to seal the match.

That's an illusion with the camera angle. He's running straight there
Notice how the rest of the Dragons side was walking or still back about 40 metres either too tired, in disbelief or could not be bothered. Norman had to usher the troops to celebrate and congratulate him. Good to see.our support play working so well...thats a Maryism...sit back and get ready for the next structured play.

I see Mary still has the bar set high at keeping teams to 16 max points in defence (spoken by TSims I think). I thought 12 or 10 or 8 or 0 might be somwhere we could aim for.or at least that what he could instruct our players..or say nothing about a target. Funny how we averaging well over 20.
I suppose he will be proud when we lose games 16-14,16-10 or 16-4. Pat on the back boys you did your job...Sigh....I suppose I just have too high expectations. Mary knows what he is doing.

You know what i think would help his game enormously , a sidestep ! He props but doesn't step and with his pace a SS would be lethal just like Tedesco & Slater had.
Sounds good to me. Please tell me, why haven't these highly paid coaches from pathways all the way to first grade ever picked this up?

Si Lomax is out of the Manly clash with a broken thumb.

Replaced by ......................

Maranta

I don’t think I’ve been so underwhelmed by a replacement deemed necessary due to injury.

Did McGregor and co. watch last week’s Canterbury Cup game against the Warriors? Not only was Maranta beaten for pace by his opposite man (on which one occasion drew a penalty for holding him back), he just looks simply too top heavy for first grade.

I might as well put up my hand for selection.

Don't know a whole lot about Maranta only that he's the fastest man in NRL.
Apparently in a 100 meter race at training he finished 30 meters ahead of Dufty, 45 meters ahead of Ravalawa and 85 meters ahead of Lafai.
Cannot wait to see him fly!

Personaly I dont think Maranta will play. They've basically just slotted him in where Lomax was. We still have to name 21players until the 24hrs before kick off.

I expect Maranta will make way for either Rava (preferably) or Periera (on the wing).

Field is not a centre and would get monstered big time by Walker or especially Suli (depending on if Aitken switches back to the right).

In all this though we cannot predict what our Supercoach will do.
