The 00s had a regular turn over of Premiership Heavyweights as the Salary Cap was working. Teams would be up then lose gun players as they couldn’t afford to keep them due to lower clubs having the room for them

The 10s have felt like a continual ground hog day. TPAs have turned the game into the Haves and Have Nots. It’s felt like Roosters, Storm, Souths, Sharks, Broncos every year. For example:

Roosters lose RTS sign Tedesco. Lose Pearce sign Cronk. Lose Ferguson sign Morris and Hall. Lose Napa sign Crichton.

Sharks lose Maloney sign Moylan. Lose Holmes sign Johnson.

Broncos lose Hunt sign Bird (I get it’s a bad call but at the time he was a Premiership winner and current Origin player)

The comp isn’t being evened out like in the past. Previously they would lose Rep standard players and have to replace them with much lower paid guys. I genuinely believe teams like the Roosters, Souths, Storm etc will be at the top of the ladder for another decade.

This isn’t the successful clubs fault, it’s just an interesting time period we’ve enerted and so different to what we had even a decade ago.

You only have to look at the minor premiers this decade
11- Storm
12 - Dogs
13 - Roosters
14 - Roosters
15 - Roosters
16 - Storm
17 - Storm
18 - Roosters
19 - Roosters with one hand on it already
And of course in 2012 Storm were 2nd and won the title.

agree...but u never know what the Dragons may do and still expect the Broncos to make a run.

Penrith's chances depend on this week. They are dead and buried if they lose. Win and there is still a pulse. All be it a tiny one.

But the salary cap has created the most even competition in the world, so says Todd.

Level with Souths who are yet to be defeated inside 80 minutes and only a game ahead of Melbourne and Canberra. Far from already having one hand on it.

I won't say they can't make it, they did it in 2017. But they've been awful. Yesterday disgraceful. Million to one they make the finals.

At least in 2018 we could be disgraceful for 65-70 minutes and still win matches. This team is lazy and unfit, the hallmark of Dave Mate's coaching style it seems.

'Re-building year' line will soon be trotted out. What a load of shit, the roster is more than capable of playing finals football.

Even club legends are laying the boot in now with Ryan Girdler calling club immoral and calling for the administration to be accountable for the clubs actions.

That is an astounding record. That pretty much exactly resembles a La Liga ladder.

If top spot actually meant something, monetary or bigger advantage than the other top 4 teams, then I think a few coaches would go harder for top spot.

A few times there, for and against has been the only thing separating top spot, it’s not like they have run away with it, also there has been 6 different premiers in those 8 years, with dogs(twice)Warriors, cows, manly and broncos being involved in the losing GF.

That’s 9 clubs that have all had a chance for glory, wouldn’t say that’s too bad.

Why are people talking about finals? We'll be doing well to finish above Canterbury at this point.

That is the thing. The roster is more than good enough to be a top 8 team at the very least. Under Ivan players have gotten lazy and a lot of them have regressed. He is a shit coach. The good coaches like Robbo, Bennett, Bellamy bring out the best in players. Duds like Cleary bring out the worst in players.

Now because Ivan is running the show he will pull apart the roster for a re-built you don't really need. The roster just needs a few tweaks.
You just need a better coach. Little chance of happening in the short term.

5 in a row, what do you know?

Salary cap doing it's job across the league. Even teams that are absolutely shithouse can still make the 8.

Gotta flog of few sides for our FA if we are to be a realistic chance.

Jimmy should just kick a field goal everytime he is in range.
