Michael Hagan - titans should be chasing hard for hagan, Kevvy will be found out as an NRL coach and the titans will find themselves in the same position in 2 years time with Kevvy as coach....

lets just go retro and rebrand them the giants. Or better yet move to Logan

Seriously how many attempts have there been to have a GC team. Perth and Adelaide were far more successful and would be going great guns if still around compared to this rabble.

So supposedly he lost the dressing room. If reports are true then its gonna be the same problem again. Henry was sacked for the same reason so whats improved?

As I said sacking the coach won't solve everything. Theres other issues there and they need to sort it out.

Winning is usually good for team morale.

They could do worse than get Cameron Smith up there as Captain-Coach.

Hes a local boy isn't he?
As if Cameron Smith would tarnish his legacy by being associated with those pack of losers.

Same goes for Mal, he’ll stay on as a ‘helper’.
If things improve, Mal’s a genius and his review was just what they needed.
If they don’t, it will be the new coach’s fault.

A normal coach isn't gonna cut it up there. Much like the warriors they are a graveyard for normal coaches.

Teams like ours need to try something outsidw the square if we can't get a Bellamy or a Bennett or a Robinson. Agreed Smith is a pipe dream but someone like the Walker Brothers may work.

Geoff Toovey said he may well apply on NRL360
Toovey got a premiership winning team into the Grand Final. Walters has never coached an NRL club and was rejected by the Broncos. Griffin took Penrith from the 2015 spoonbowl to three successive finals series, winning finals every year. It's a no-brainer really. He may not win them a comp, but he will make them a winning team.

Agreed Smith is a pipe dream but someone like the Walker Brothers may work.

And they may not. What this club needs is a proven winning record in the NRL.

has it been confirmed who the interim head coach is? I saw here that it was the 2 assistant coaches but Nine has been saying that Mal is

Could honestly be a breath of fresh air. Most neutral fans can't really be bothered watching GC because average results & less history. You need to win a lot like Melbourne to become hated enough to watch or beloved like NQ for upsetting the big guns.

But I'd tune in & turn up to see what the GC under Walkers was about. And if they entertain or win a bit then all of a sudden you're the good news story of the league that year and have something to build on-become everyones "second team" etc.

Most NRL teams play so similar but I feel it's a shallow, imitative idea pool-plenty of room for someone to actually bring something new. The way the sheer football smarts of Hodgson, Whitehead & Bateman shine head & shoulders above 95% of our home grown players tells me there's scope for good footy outside the NRL establishment.

The GC has Burleigh and Tweed Heads as successful Qld Cup sides and Keebra Park as a League school, but there's a difference between being a successful area at those levels and a successful area at NRL level. To be successful at NRL level you need enough interest and support from the public, and the mistake that the major sporting codes have made is simply look at the population of the GC without seeming to bother investigating the demographics. The word "transient" has become almost cliche, but there are too many people who move to the GC from somewhere else and have their existing club loyalties. There aren't enough people who consider themselves "Gold Coasters", who'll go and watch more than the odd game if that. IIRC the NRL gave GC the nod mainly because they figured we needed more Qld teams. We could definitely use more Qld teams, but the GC is not the place. We should be looking at Redcliffe or another existing QRL team instead.

ditching the Gold Coast again would be a mistake and a huge leg up for the Suns, with some success the club will improve fairly quickly, and like it or not theres half a million people on the GC, and 1.2 million if you throw in the Northern Rivers and North Coast. Moving the club a hour north to Brisbane like some have claimed would be ridiculously pointless and a waste of potential for both the gold coast and a second Brisbane team. If people from Brisbane wanted to follow the titans they would already, rebranding them Brisbane wouldn't make a difference

It was brought up on 100% last night but something the Titans should be doing is expanding their reach, they have a huge and fast growing catchment in NRL heartland from south of Brisbane all the way down the north coast of NSW to not only draw fans from but also develop juniors. They also need to get a good development coach in and try and develop their own star, theres plenty of talent to go round in their catchment. They aren't going to draw a big name player to the club as like Slater said last night, big name players rarely go on the market anymore.

Re the stadium, it's too late now but they really missed an opportunity to have a stunning stadium in an amazing location. When people think of the GC they think beaches and picture the skyline of Surfers hugging the beach, so why wouldn't they build a stadium on the beach? placing Robina stadium on the beach in the heart of the gold coast would have done a lot to help get casuals and walk-ups to games

Justin Holbrook could turn the club around, especially if he brings with him from St Helens their halves Johnny Lomax and Theo Fages.
