Season 2019 Review.

Good or bad?
I reckon both.

The bad.
We had a coaching change 2 weeks before the competition start.
We commence with the burden of the playing group knowing people have to go.
We get inuries to all of our best players for multiple overlapping weeks.
At no stage did we really know who our best players were & in which position. 3 games in & Johnson was actually being touted as our fullback.
We got through the worst injury period ever to hit the club, to then run in to the goal kicking crisis.
We lose 5 games where we scored more trys than the opposition.
3 of those would have put us top 4.
We went out with a whimper & disrespected Gals legacy.
We really missed a golden opportunity this year.
When your down, you get kicked.

The good

In a time where we needed to find some cheap options, our injuries forced us to blood some great rookies.
The contest was beyond them this year, but the experience was invaluable. & their salary cap value will help get us through 2021.
It's easy to look at 2019 now as a rebuilding year. One in which we played finals.
Morris will never make the same mistake in a semi again. Never sit back & think you can burn them in the last 20, by going through the motions in the first 20. Finals you hit first , hit hard & hit often. let the game sort out the fitness.
We have learnt a lot about hamstring recuperation & ACL, of which the latter, we are exceptional.

The future
Who knows. How we react to the no home ground thing, is very concerning.

No sackings required. No taps. Just learn, get fitter, get better.

lucky we didn't drop them all on your recommendation then otherwise that experience and cap value wouldn't exist would it?

the home ground thing should never be an issue. Parramatta used Belmore as their home ground from 1982 to 1985. They won premierships in 1982 and 1983. And Kogarah is a lot closer to Shark Park than Belmore is to Parramatta Stadia / Cumberland Oval.

Last night I watched our guys being done by younger, stronger and better players, who had a far better approach to their game.

Pretty much every game they lost this season was summed up in this game. They came out on top for first 3 sets, then the tide turns and they lose the plot for the next 20 mins.
Moylan choked last year, SJ choked this year. If you think they can win anything with these 2 in the side you are dreaming.

People wrote off Barba after Broncos debacle , And he was always a loose cannon .,Need that kind of talent on the field to win the whole thing.Always comes with risks , Unless you can afford the few with less risk factors.Talent wise Id put Johnson in same category( and not saying he should be fullback) Probably less risk for off field indescretions ,but Injury wise and adapting to Sharks team was long odds to all happen in one season with no preseason.

If you really think any team can win it without the prodigeous talent of someone like Johnson you are dreamin.. Do you really think Sharks can send him packing and replace with , ummmmm say Munster , or Keary , or Ponga .... ? Maybe JT could be persuaded to come out of retirement.or NRL might allow Barba Back just to help out beloved Sharkies

We have zero aggression in our team, especially now that Gal is gone. All the top sides have a team full of hard angry merkins who want to kill anyone who stands in their way. We have kids and old blokes who shit themselves when faced with a bit of intimidation.

Gallen hasn't been intimidating for a couple of years, another one of our issues. He is a club legend but this year was too much for him

I can’t believe how flat we were last night from kick off. Never looked interested

Bad: Attitude + Very poor Strength and Conditioning Coaching staff.

Good: Young players that became FG'ers.

If we can get our attitude to defense right, we can be there abouts again. See what JM can do in the off, with them and our senior players need a fuc king rocket.
