He isn't fit enough now. Like I said I just do not see him coming here and working harder then he did for Robinson and the roosters. It would be fantastic but its not at all likely IMO.
This, just to add to my other posts.

@herbert henry1908 do you really think Mitchells lazy attitude would be coached just as well by Cleary than Robinson? I like Cleary, but even I don't think he has the hardness a coach needs to coach someone like Mitchell effectively.

Latrell played FB in the lower grades and in 2016. From memory he was getting to tired and they shifted him later on.

In saying that he is a lazy bugger that only averages 6 runs a game at centre. Playing FB he would need to double or triple has runs. I don't think he has it in him.
If he is having trouble now under a professional organisation in the Roosters, then we ain't going improve his attitude or work effort.

I’m being realistic.

At best we’re looking at maybe scraping into the finals, we aren’t on a level to compete with the top 4 teams.
In your opinion... Like I said, I hope the team isn't in that head space (FWIW I agree about the talent to a certain degree, but I still hope they come out give an effort)

No, I'm not saying it's a massive risk, just that IF we were to sign him, we play him in the position he has excelled at and won premierships at. That's all. Also, every Panther junior has 'potential' to be elite player as well. Plans shouldn't rely on potential alone.

it’s a (minor) risk vs (large) reward calculation.

Signing him is the hard part, once you’ve done that trying to get the most bang for your buck just makes sense. If it doesn’t work then he can go back to centre.

Even if it was just 6 games, fullback is such an important position that it would be worth a try.

I reckon you’d find it would be in most people’s opinion.

It’s up to the coaching staff to get them in the right head space, but that doesn’t mean behind the scenes they can’t plan to try a few things.

Trouble with that is. If you sign him to play FB you will be paying top FB money. If he has to go back to centre then you are over paying him.
I remember that argument with Dugan.

Yes, and I'm not arguing that at all, but at the end of the day, I hope it's not the teams opinion of themselves

6 games is a far cry from your original 6 months - I can live with a 6 game experiment if it were to happen, but he'd have to win games essentially single handed given he'd be on massive $$'s

Fair point about Cleary, but I still see very little downside to just trying it.

Hardly any risk vs a massive reward. No brainer.

Latrell would be unreal but unless we can still afford to fill some vital holes in our team (mongrel prop, another centre, a strike bench second rower like leluia) then it's a no.

I disagree RE risk - I think the possibility of paying massive money to someone to play FB, then moving them to centre and trying to juggle a salary cap that over pays players not in key positions is a BIG risk.

I meant once he’s signed it’s not a big risk.

True there’s risk involved in you pay him fullback money and he plays centre, but he’s a genuine elite centre. I’d say he’d command 800k quite easily, so is 200k more a huge risk?

If he's winning games his pay is irrelevant. He out scored some teams when they played at the SCG this year.

What centre is on 800k? Not chambers surely, Roberts? I mean who are the elite centres? There aren’t any worth that IMO.

Paying Latrell a million(or more) to play in the centres would be dumb.

I’d prefer to sign Manu then Latrell tbh Latrells attitude is that big a worry for me.

If by some miracle we got either of their centres it'd be whichever one they didn't want.
