The muppets are still looking at the Fifita one. It’s an open shut case of Fifita assaulting that security guard and they’ve been discussing his punishment for this long, it boggles the mind.

Also begs the question is physical violence worse than sharing a video of someone in a compromising situation. I'd say no but the NRL will be different.

I agree but people have killed themselves over revenge porn, to be Politically correct they will have to treat it seriously I think.

This will probably sound incredibly wrong but I’d rather may give my sister a black eye than f**k her, film it and send it to all his mates. Either way I’d want to kill him.

It’s kinda weird a penalty for May hasn’t been announced already. Once he’s pled guilty do the NRL need to do any investigation? They knew the charges, I would’ve thought they’d have a penalty ready to go.
Perhaps if it's a custodial sentence (unlikely?) then that dictates a different action that may be taken otherwise. The NRL has waited on the Court system so far, it would be hypocritical to take action now.

Fair point. He took a plea bargain I think that definitely rules out the more serious punishments he is up for.

You say this a lot... So, by your logic, if my employer hired a convicted murderer, I could technically go and murder someone and still keep my job because a precedent is set? That's a silly argument mate

No just saying we have Criminal checks in the real world... how many players would fail them? It doesn’t seem to matter how it is done in real world in NRL world

That's totally fair. Maybe I was wrong.

Oh no not saying that just it kind of is a matter of opinion. Some people, boy or girl would be so horrified about having a video like the May one shared of them to a group of people and the general public they couldn’t leave their house for weeks and then there are others who are willingly porn stars whose job is appearing on sex tapes. Some people are extremely traumatised by even a small amount of violence being done to them, even just the threat of violence can ruin certain people and others willingly climb in a ring and let someone pummel them for their job. See what I’m getting at?

There are recent examples of NRL players being convicted of serious indictable offences, serving time in jail and returning to the game ie Danny Wicks and Russell Packer. If May does not receive a custodial sentence which is a distinct possibility surely a significant monetary penalty coupled with his time out of the game should be a sufficient penalty. Banishing him forever is simply unrealistic and the punishment is not befitting of his crime particularly given other more serious acts and offenders two of whom I mention above.

Yeah I definitely get that. I was being very simplistic with it which is silly to be honest. I am expecting May to get worse consequences due to who Fifita plays for and his status in the game.

People keep missing that the attitude of the NRL has changed very recently with incidents involving women being a huge one.

How does May lose his job and Wighton keep his?

Why do we want to throw May under the bus and the Raiders all rallied behind Jackie boy?

I’m confident we will sack May, but seriously..... I don’t think it’s consistent with what’s been going on in the rest of the league.

I don’t want to throw him under the bus but I think that’s what the nrl will do. Tbh if it wasn’t for the stand down rule I would’ve fired him when the video was doing the rounds on Facebook unless he denied sharing it. Wighton is irrelevant to me, what he did was terrible and he should’ve been dealt with but he got lucky I mean I wouldn’t hold it against May if he gets a light punishment.

opposite here. It was agreed to be filmed always a risk it gets out. No one deserves to get belted in their home

I really do understand the violence against women issue and there must be strict deterrents and punishments in place for players who contravene the code of conduct. I’m just expressing my view that a significant monetary penalty to go towards a relevant woman’s DV charity / support network and his time out of the game is sufficient in his case.

He just plead guilty to filming without consent for two different women. You know what consent is I hope?

One of these women actually said during the video “don’t be filming”.

I think the one thing which not too many people have touched upon is the professional manner in which this was dealt with by our club. We stood the player down, not the NRL despite the offences not carrying the 11 year prison term to meet the NRLs automatic stand down criteria. I think the club should be commended for the stand they took way back when the situation came to light.

So he filmed it but who spread it then? Surely both go together

The 11 year benchmark is the part I don’t agree with
