Arson is predominantly motivated by a) profit and from a mental illness POV b) anger by those who find difficulty expressing this emotion. There is also a cohort of under 16’s who do so via a morbid curiosity. The morbidity does not extend assets or to the death of others. Just trees n shit.

BTW I think you will find that 50% of fires are started by *humans*. Arson is part of the statistics as are bungers, car backfires, motor vehicle accidents and general stupidity.

There are plenty of dangerous nutters who think of climate change as an existential threat. The same sort of people who think words are violence. Who knows what lengths they might go to to get their way. Given the way climate change has been framed, there will certainly be enough of them thinking the ends justify the means.

Plenty of nut jobs out there with a reason to do something silly. Who knows their motive or reasoning why. We all would be guessing. But it is certai ly a possibility.

My guess is troubled teens, mentally Ill people and adults who are bored/hate life are the likely culprits.
It's possible some of these people also fall into the climate change category . Especially someone mentally ill experiencing some sort of psychosis. Perhaps thinking he is doing something right.
