Thats what the other 11-12 players are for in the "top30" stop this forcing Josh Reynolds into the squad mentality, if they shine in the lower grade they do it in 1st grade at their position, again centre isn't a real position, its where you go if you're a slow fullback or a short 2nd rower

Centre is not an easy position to defend especially for fill in players like backrowers the reading of the plays and lateral movement of the really good centres can make life difficult

defensively, is there any difference between an edge back rower and a centre? I don’t think there is.

The wider you defend, the better your lateral movement needs to be. As a general rule the bigger guys don’t have as good movement.

This is why Mansour won’t be in the team for long. Hell, most short wingers will struggle with this.

Problem is all are probably out of the top side. I don’t see Edwards getting re-signed so can actually get some speed in his place

Depends what you call quick. Naden and To’o have scored tries from the other side of halfway. Leinu is quick over 40 m

I think people are referring to the FG side, there’s some up and coming speedsters but the first choice backline is slow.

Naden scored a 80m try v Warriors. To’o scored a few from the other side of halfway so there is some speed but we do need more

Halves are terrible at kicking. The only thing we will see more of is 7 tackle sets

Yeah I wasn’t saying they’re all slow, but as a whole our backline is on the slower side. Naden & To’o have decent pace for sure.

We can probably get away with one smaller winger, but not two. I don’t see how Mansour can play regular FG.

I’d be moving Naden to a wing, and Crichton to the centres on To’o’s side.

Not so much size as timing. Whoever gets the ball has a free run To’o is fairly Athletic he should be fine

In the clubs recent photos Crichton looks like he is fitter than he was last season, even copared to the other boys his body fat looks low, looking forward to seeing him go round this year. He even played a bit of AFL apparently, he should be a target.

I think people are overestimating how much impact this new rule will have tbh. How often do you actually recall seeing attacking players tackled in the air? It happens but its not every contest or even every game, teams will already defend those kicks(if they aren't landing in goal) by letting attackers catch it and land before tackling them, Mansour always does this already. Teams will refine and improve upon this as well as try to block kick chasers as much as possible.

Also to pull it off it still requires a pin point kick with a perfectly timed chase, these kicks are a big chance of giving up a 7 tackle set. So it is risk V reward with a fairly high degree of difficulty to pull it off.

I agree with this. I doubt we see much of a change

What half can consistently aim a kick exactly where they want. 7 tackles if they miss it slightly
