The need for a ball playing halfback is mostly dependent on your halves. If they’re providing enough ball playing then you’re fine.

Correct. I've said a few times that this is the crux of the issue.

Seeing as we have Cleary wrapped up for a long time the talk won't fade away. Fullback is going to be a constant question and Edwards has to be playing his A game consistently to stay in the 1.

Tbh I think people underrate Edwards on here. It's like the first 6 weeks of last year has overridden everything positive he has done. The back half of last year he was fantastic & improving each game.

The current obsession with having a ball playing fullback will fade.

I couldn’t agree more. Dylan was outstanding when he got his spot back last season and all the conversation around ball playing fullbacks well frankly they are like hens teeth.

I don't mind Dylan resigning with the club I'm not sure if daine Laurie or Charlie staines will hang around though.

If they're not good enough to replace Dylan at the Panthers, then they're unlikely to get a crack at another NRL club either. Fullback is one position which is absolutely stacked across the board.

The only certainty is that injuries happen, and all it takes for some players is a single opportunity. They'll get their shot - and like 90% of Panther juniors, they'll be ready when that chance comes.

Not sure we can lament the potential loss of a completely unproven junior in response to another junior (with runs on the board) re-signing.

There is not much in quality for off contract for fullbacks this year. Better the devil you know.

If Laurie or Staines are good enough either could replace him over the next 12-18 months.

Dyl has been able to talk to clubs for a while now, I think we got him cheap after he got hurt. I don't think he wanted to sign that deal right now while injured and the last footy he played was his worst season yet but now he is hurt who knows, he might not even get back in the side. If I were his manager id be telling him to take the best offer he has right now and If I were the panthers management I would of lowballed the shit out of him. That is my logic anyway.

He wasn't really outstanding, just a lot better than the absolute terrible form he had been in. He still made unforced errors fielding kicks, just less of them. Any time he was involved in a backline play that required him to make a decision he looked hesitant and average except for maybe one time he had a nice tip on pass, not even sure what point of the season that was but I think it was later rather than earlier.

I agree but Edwards, Staines and Laurie are not local juniors. Country boys recruited from the bush.

Goodness me you find fault in almost everything.

Me, I'm pleased that a try was scored.

When tries are scored are they 'judged' like in the diving ?

Does it say next to the try. This try was ordinary because the pass was so so.

(here I am again complaining again about someone complaining LOL ) :p:p

I am glad you find 2 try assists good for a spine player. In the real world it is horrible only DWZ was worse out of Fullbacks.

Drilling down further it wasn’t like there were passes thrown dropped by outside players. He looked shaky even setting up the 2 he did

My comment stands. Tries are not rated like they are in diving.

I think you' re just looking for something to get your undies in a twist.
