Good I say, let them all write us off, it will be all the more satisfying if they band together, play some enterprising football and make the finals.
Yeah I agree, I only currently have 9 also. I maybe will get Kayo again if we have a full season and start playing some decent footy. But commentators don’t seem to bother me. The more they bag the Dragons, the sweeter the success. I guess thing is we haven’t had many chances to prove them wrong lately.

Does make one wonder why he hasn’t got the run at the gummies though. It’s not like they are bursting at the seams with guns given Gal retiring, Fifita being injured etc. Time will tell but the games I’ve seen him play in reserves he looked very good.
I have heard that he doesn't listen to coaches instruction. I can't remember exactly how the story went but he was told strictly not to do something in a game yet went out and did it anyway. Morris then went off him.
At least that's what I heard.

I really want to sign him. If we can jag him then Hook and co could get him firing I reckon.
Fingers crossed.

The love affair continues.View attachment 44676

I have to say George Dragon, you really know how to find em dont you
and you almost ruined my night...then I saw it is from the telegraph and of course expected gutter journalism.
Mary must of have reminded his mates that he is still jobless and asked to get the message out there again!..anybody..somebody!..please

"I have unfinished business and have a lot of passion to offer in regards to coaching in rugby league"...
is that so.
Well at the Dragons that business went broke and we had to call the receivors in to clean up the mess.

If Steve Price can find work in Rugby League I’m sure McGuber will eventually get a job somewhere too. Anyway right now he’s still getting paid by us so I’m not sure he’s doing it that tough.

I disagree. I did think that way 6 years ago when McWinLittle first took over but Price has done OK in the holiday league destination of the Super League and won a comp as an assistant or water runner at the Sharks.
So i do now honestly think Price is and maybe was a batter coach who had to deal with a crap team that Doust and Young recruited for him..just.

That’s the argument isn’t it, player exodus to Newcastle, retirements & career ending injuries to Ben Creagh, Cameron King & Kyle Stanley. But as a coach you live & die by your results & a win rate of 36% is always going to get you fired no matter the excuse.

Agree but what is Mary's excuse the past 2 1/2 years with a much better squad. His win rate over that time is lower with 3+ years behind him. 2 1/2 years was all Price got to coach in the NRL.

McGuber;
2015 50%
2016 41%
2017 41%
2018 66%
2019 37%
2020 35%

Overall 46% how he kept getting contact extensions is one of the great mysteries.

Crush those posts were sensible.

Like Crush, I haven’t got excited with the ‘hook’ coaching change. Good players make good coachs and in the last few years I have posted on the overstated influence of coaches( not saying no influence just overstated). I backed this up with direct evidence that even the best of them tank when they haven’t got the cattle in the team ( or stick to one team which has strong 3rd party deals to sign multiple top players.

The one year we had a very good all round team was 2018. Strong pack with Vaughan, Graham 32 years old, Au Mau, JDB, Tariq injury free until the Broncs semi final and Tyson still going well. MCG was coach and bar injury to Widdop and Tariq in Broncs semi we would have been Grand finalists.

Now Hook has arrived and our roster is the weakest for many years. Even Frizzel shot through even with $700k ready to come his way for another 3 years I think? We have signed 2021 a solid young second tier roosters prop and Jack Bird who has been basically in the sheds with serious injuries for the past 3 years; today still effectively in rehab. Cory N is hanging round for the last year of a huge ?$ 900k pay packet, ( so would any of us) while Gareth W is back and apparently offering cut price services.

I’m not knocking any 2021 player or coach just being realistic.
A good coach can make a hell of a difference i am 60 years old now loved sport all my life seen some great coaches get teams to win competitions they should not have won eg alex ferguson, harry bath morinho don't under estimate the value of a good coach

I think we can all agree that we don’t know what to expect for 2021. I’m just looking for an overall improvement particularly in defence. A lot of salary will be coming off the books next year so Hook will be able to plug gaps in the roster with qualify players. My expectations are much higher for 2022 & beyond.

Now do the last 2.5 yrs which is what I said
You must be McNuffies media spokesman
You obviously counted byes as a win and did not include finals to come up with those stats
Eg 2018 15 wins from 26 games incl 2 finals = 58%
2019 8 from 24 = 33%

Yes true, but we aren't talking about Bellamy or Bennett here, we are talking about Griffin.
He'll no doubt be a better coach than the last mug but he isn't going to win competitions with this roster.
Look at Madge, he won a comp with an excellent roster. Now at tigers with an ordinary roster cant make the 8.

Magoulias has skill, no doubt.

Whether he can translate that to first grade form is the question.

If we land him and Hook can manage his reported issues with taking direction, then he is worth the gamble as he will come cheap and may still enable us to land a quality backrower if and when one should become available...

It’s an interesting one, this not taking directions. The obvious one is that there should be full collaboration with everyone going in the same direction ...and justifiably so. However, some of the greatest match winners the game has seen often used their instinct in the moment and ignored instructions. Feel the modern game with its focus on self discipline, metres, less mistakes and high completions has thwarted the individual expression somewhat. Can’t comment on how good he is, but listening to others I’d say go for it, we need some instinct types and thinkers out there.
