Its pretty funny as soon as the guys stop playing they start getting caught for everything.

So true, it is only the lesser names that get hung out to dry while playing, bar the odd exception..Todd Carney and Benny Barbar. The big names sail into retirement before the Sh.t hits the fan and for many it stays well and truly under the carpet..a few names come to mind but the mods will get upset if I go to print

The last thing the NRL wants to do is open that can of worms. This was the golden boy and souths are the golden club. There is no way they want to tarnish souths.

If the dodgy drug test story is true Souths should really be stripped of competition points for this season minimum of 10 imo.

Sammy's had his intimidation conviction quashed.
An appeal judge has torn up Sam Burgess’s guilty verdict over an allegation he intimidated his father-in-law Mitchell Hooke.

Former rugby league star Sam Burgess has won an appeal on a charge he intimidated his father-in-law Mitchell Hooke during a heated dispute in 2019.

Burgess did not appear in person in the Goulburn District Court on Friday, where his barrister, Phillip Boulten SC, argued Moss Vale Magistrate Robert Rabbidge was wrong to find the former Rabbitoh’s star guilty of intimidation.

Burgess had always maintained his innocence.

Former NRL star Sam Burgess has intimidation conviction against ex-father-in-law overturned

Former South Sydney NRL captain Sam Burgess has had a conviction for intimidation against his former father-in-law overturned by a NSW appeals court.

Burgess, 32, was in February convicted of intimidating his ex-father-in-law Mitchell Hooke, who said Burgess stood within 20 centimetres of him and threatened to "get" him during a dispute at a home in the NSW Southern Highlands in 2019.

Today in a NSW District Court in Goulburn, Justice Mark Williams ruled that Burgess's evidence that the intimidation did not happen should have been considered a reasonable possibility, before quashing his conviction.

Justice Williams noted that Burgess's ex-wife Phoebe and her father had spoken to lawyers and a PR expert before Ms Hooke made a triple-0 call about the alleged incident.

The judge said that the case left open the substantial possibility that Mr Hooke was fabricating evidence to help in his daughter's family law case against Burgess.

"It is a case of the word of Mr Burgess against the word of Mr Hooke," Justice Williams said.

Burgess retired that year after a 270-game NRL and English Super League career.

He stood down from roles as a commentator and South Sydney assistant coach in October last year.

Jesus, that was quick, looks like the justice system is lifting its games and getting appeals etc done in a reasonable time. Unless your JDB.

Good, now the prosecution dept should be charged for wasting peoples time and tax payers money! Who the f**k takes someone to court for swearing at them in a heated argument? Pussy.
Don’t always agree with you Red,but you are on the cash. He court systems are being overwhelmed by numerous such cases. But the court system in the whole country is a joke. I always tell people it’s the law system rather than the justice system.

Now there should be an investigation into how the actual f**k the first judge found him guilty with zero evidence.

Honestly how can one actually prove or disprove being intimidated?

I call the first witness to the stand... were you intimidated?... 'yes'.

Case closed, guilty.
